>27 year old pretends to be a high-schooler
>is an athletic failure who cannot hope to keep up with 17 year olds (who are the physical peak and perfection of humanity, by the way)

The fuck? I'm 25 and in the best shape of my life. Why does anime overglorify teenagers so much?
>>
>>148976952
I think you're the exception to the rule. Most people are in their best shape in High School, since they're forced to get out and exercise and play sports 5 days a week. After that, the average person sits on their ass all day at work and maybe goes to the gym just enough to prevent becoming a lardass.
>>
If for years you've been sitting on your ass, drinking and smoking your life away, you're probably not going to be competing with a bunch of younger, more athletic high school kids.
Face reality, anon, even at 25 you're probably past your prime if you haven't been ritually exercising.
>>
>depressed dude who sits in his room and drinks beer all day unable to physically compete against kids who are forced to exercise every day

Keep remembering OP that everyone is exactly like you.
>>
>is supposed to be a neet loser
>has a job and when he goes to the high school he suddenly becomes an alpha chad

what did they mean by this?
>>
If I were to compete with a 17 years old version of myself I'd also have a hard time. Reached my physical peak at college when I was like 19 and it's all been downhill from there.
>>
I never got fat or anything but by virtue of still having to do gym class every day 17 year old me is definitely more athletic than 22 year old me.
>>
>>148977597
You must not have been paying much attention. He had a part-time job in a convenience store, not a "real" job as a salaryman, so might as well be NEET by typical Japanese standards. And his status as a loser isn't because he lacks social skills and other stuff like that, but because he threw in his salaryman job instead of putting up and shutting up like a good drone, which meant that no other companies would hire him.

>I'm 25 and in the best shape of my life. Why does anime overglorify teenagers so much?

Because prime anime age is highschool age 14-18 thus their target audience is the same.

You've just managed to not age mentally out of that 14-18 range and thus still watch anime.
>>
>>148976952
>in highschool I was in decent shape

Human males peak at 19-25 physically. Around 30 they're okay and not be that much worse physically but they'll have had a decade of experience which makes them better than the 20 year olds.
>>
>>148977235
>you're probably past your prime if you haven't been ritually exercising.
I keep a very meticulous diet and regularly exercise every second day. This is only to be expected for an adult, so I cannot understand how anyone can physically peak at high school
>>
>>148978179
Only true in modern society.
If you spend a reasonable amount of time doing physical exercise, a 25-35 year old would smash male in the 18-23 range.
>>
It's because of life in Japan in general. After 30, you're already middle-aged.
And I agree with you, the human body reaches its peak between 20 and 30 years old, not before.

>Human males peak at 19
Stop talking out of your ass. Men only completely finish puberty at 21. And it's safe to say they only get to their strongest point at 23-25. And they don't start deteriorating till their late 30s strength wise. They only lose speed after 30, not strength.
>>
>>148977235
>Not lifting for your waifu.
How will you protect that smile?
>>
>>148978830
And of course this only applies if you do nothing. If you cultivate your body and capabilities you can be stronger in your 50s than you were at 30.
>>
>>148979237
Only if you didn't reach your potential in your 30s. 50s potential it's definitely lower than at 30.
>>

You can thank Japanese society for that. The fact that there hasn't yet been a call to change even just a few of the aspects that bring them down makes me sad.

To be honest, most American acquaintances I know around 27 have more in common with Chris chan than athletes in terms of physique.

I'm 25, but I made a deliberate effort to never become a slob like that. I'm the fittest I've ever been, but my friends that don't do anything already have the bodies of middle aged people.

That's not entirely right. For someone who doesn't exercise much (which, unlike what most people are alluding to in this thread, is the norm), he's good when he's not messing up. Him falling in chapter 150 is a bit of a disappointing joke in that sense, since it just rehashes something we already saw early on in S1 for the sake of a poor running gag.

this show fucking sucked so much. it just pushed mc to have him father some teens in their troubled phase. of course the other girl was autismo, have to double up on the viewer's attention by adding a brainless chick. nothing even happened but the piano kept playing. could have been interesting by doing some commentary of nipon honorabu job life but nah, high school shenanigans is easier.
>>
>>148976952
yep, men reach their peak around 28
>>
>>148979662
In high school I always had the most strength among everyone else, since I had a pull up bar in my backyard and did lots of push ups. But that was literally all there was, I was terrible at sports and had the flexibility of a log, while I can almost do the splits now.
>>
>>148979944
In high school I was doing hardcore raids and watching anime at a ridiculous pace (all of monster in one sitting)
>>
>>148979892
They're both still very afraid of the whole memory erasure thing and they're too pure to just fuck each other without knowing if the other is actually an adult.
>>
>>148979929
It's just much more character-centric instead of being another pointlessly boring meta commentary. I first dropped it within the first half of episode 1 because I thought it would be precisely that, but since it wasn't, it's now one of my favorites.

I do hope the next few chapters go away from the high school activities and focus more on Kaizaki's still fucked up state of mind though.
>>
>>148979722
they won't
they'll both be successful at relife - memory wipe - they'll get hired by relife - hishiro would go to a separate branch while MC stays at the current location the series is
>>
>>148978480
Uh, yeah that's exactly it. Sounds like you DO understand how someone can physically peak in high school.

For my part I'm probably in better shape now than I was in high school but it's mostly a result of eating smarter and just walking more. Not swole or anything but I don't have trouble exerting myself when it comes to it.
>>
>>148980146
too bad the characters blow. how commentary can be considered boring but cookie cutter teenage life still interests you is weird. I don't know of other shows that have an mc struggling to find work because he hates how the workforce is. the mc in relife was even praised for standing up to the bosses in that one episode. so much of the show does what's safe and I found it boring.
>>
>>148980298
>too bad the characters blow
Duh, you're overexaggerating their importance. Ohga and Kariu are secondary characters (good for what they are in fact), while the love triangle trio are tertiary. You're only really supposed to look at the people involved with the experiment, all of which are more compelling than usual by manga standards.

>cookie cutter teenage life still interests you
People as a whole interest me, having grown up as the son of a teacher and constantly looking up to teachers, therapists and the like. There's nothing about meta commentary, on the other hand, that interests me at all.

>so much of the show does what's safe
Such as? Kaizaki being praised for that isn't an example, since that's to be expected given his current environment.
>>
>>148977847

>>
>>148979929
>could have been interesting by doing some commentary of nipon honorabu job life
They did do a certain amount of that in flashbacks. They could have done more, but honestly I don't think the series would have been better for it. It's supposed to be about a second chance at life, and too much attention on what went wrong with the first one would detract from that.

A series that does focus on how shitty salaryman life is would be good to have, but it should be one that's all about that, not something like this where it's just setup for the main conceit of the show.

That assumes that they're not doing physical labour. I've been doing that for the past decade and we always laugh our asses off when the new recruits fresh out of school struggle.
Most of them are simply not used to a whole shift's work of physical exertion. and plenty of them struggle with lifting a fucking 10kg box

>'m 25 and in the best shape of my life.
I'm 26 and pretty much same story. I used to be chubby but over the past year I lost about 10 kg.

We're not the norm though. For most people, the norm is that in high school they not only have gym class but probably some sports activities outside of school. Adults that enter the workforce on the other hand usually exercise a lot less because they're busy working, and when they get home they're too tired to bother with exercise. Even if they aren't fat, they sure are out of shape.
>>
>>148985506
>>148986122
Depends on your field. Many strongmen and powerlifters have their strength peak in their mid 30s to early 40s.
Contact sports and such are different of course, but as far as general strength goes you do not peak young.

You know that Arnie freely admits using roids, because all body builders of his generation use roids, right? Both lifestyles are unhealthy, but ironically Chris-chan is most likely the healthier with the two as he isn't messing with his natural hormone balance. The biggest influence on his natural hormone balance are probably the chicken nuggets he eats all the time.

Human flexibility loses out if its not used often.

So if you're not doing it couple times a week, you're losing out on the body.

Stack that up few years and its reverted to shit form.

Oh anon, you'd be surprised.
>>
Come on anons, let's have some encouragement words for those anons in their mid 20's who have never had a strong body.
>>
>>148977045
In my experience you rarely find teenagers with the maturity and self discipline to actually train daily, not merely exercise, on a consistent schedule. The average teenager might be in better shape, but once you start comparing them to 20+ then you see that the people who are actually fit are all mid 20s or older, partly because it takes years and partly because most people, aside from those who are into athletics in their teens, don't bother to train because they just want to play xbox, eat pizza and go out with friends, particularly teenagers.
>>
Basically if you don't lift, run, do calisthenics and mobility/injury precention excersises 5-7 days per week you're a huge piece of shit.
>>
>>148978279

The fuck? Clearly you don't pay attention to sports.

Male physical peak is age 24-29, they maintain that into their 30's but also become more susceptible to injuries. You're not finished growing at 14-17 wtf, that is just past puberty.

Fact: Michael Phelps world records were set in the 2008 Olympics, when he was 23, not when he was 19. Phelps is a super Olympian but his performances follow a bell curve just like everyone else.

>>
I watched 1/3 of this show but semi-dropped it due to boredom. As a 28 year old who trained for the military this show pissed me off to no end.

Teenagers are the best, physically, but their performance not as high simply because they've had less time to train.
This sounds contradictory but it's quite simple; as a 19 year old you've had 2 or so years of adult level size and stature but as a 24 year old you've had 5 years of it.
When I mean best I mean things like cartilage, joints, healing ability, as in biological quality. Doesn't perform as well as someone who has had an extra 5 years of training.

Heh... not bad, kid. Not bad at all. Your memes, I mean. They're not bad. A good first attempt. They're plenty dank... I can tell they have some thought behind them... lots of quotable material... But memeing isn't all sunshine and rainbows, kid. You're skilled... that much I can tell. But do you have what it takes to be a Memester? To join those esteemed meme ranks? To call yourself a member of the Ruseman's Corps? Memeing takes talent, that much is true. But more than that it takes heart. The world-class Memesters - I mean the big guys, like Johnny Hammersticks and Billy Kuahana - they're out there day and night, burning the midnight meme-oil, working tirelessly to craft that next big meme. And you know what, kid? 99 times out of a hundred, that new meme fails. Someone dismisses it as bait, or says it's "tryhard," or ignores it as they copy/paste the latest shitpost copypasta dreamt up by those sorry excuses for cut-rate memers over at /r/funny. The Meme Game is rough, kid, and I don't just mean the one you just lost ;) . It's a rough business, and for every artisan meme you craft in your meme bakery, some cocksucker at 9gag has a picture of a duck or some shit that a million different Johnny No-Names will attach a milion different captions to. Chin up, kid. Don't get all mopey on me. You've got skill. You've got talent. You just need to show your drive. See you on Reddit...

~8-12, kids are typically good at running.
~13-17, muscle growth, most likely stamina loss.
~18-30, more muscle growth, worse at running long distances

This is how I think it's generally, though, it does largely depend on how you're training your body and I am strictly talking about males.

Yoake's issues haven't been dealt with, so unfortunately it's still quite likely to happen. I don't know when his arc is going to happen though - Kaizaki's issues need to be resolved as well, but if Yoake's arc comes first, Kaizaki slipping back into his old state of mind wouldn't make that much sense since Kaizaki's really the only one who could help Yoake in his situation right now. If it comes afterwards, it'll likely feel anticlimactic since I don't see the manga having any more than 2 arcs left and Kaizaki and Hishiro should be the endgame, not him.

We still could have a Honoka-Inui-Nobu love triangle. If the latest chapters are anything to get by, it seems to be setting up Yoake with Onoya. They could even take inspiration from Arata and quit ReLife together if they feel management is being too bothersome.

>We still could have a Honoka-Inui-Nobu love triangle.
I don't think we will. They've not been very relevant besides just being there, and there's nothing Kaizaki or Hishiro could do for them that would be relevant to what the series is trying to accomplish. Hell, Kariu only got a big role in two arcs because the second time around, Hishiro was the one who reached out. There's no need to have any of that now.

This is also mere circumstantial evidence, if even that, but this part of the latest chapter is a good hint that we're going to be stepping away from the kids and focusing primarily on those involved with ReLIFE very shortly.

>it seems to be setting up Yoake with Onoya
Definitely, but it's pretty clear at this point that Onoya on her own can't snap Yoake out of it. And if they quit, it's going to leave Kaizaki and Hishiro in the exact same situation they were before joining the experiment, so it's unlikely to happen.

Should 42 the new "middle-aged"?

>>148978830
>And it's safe to say they only get to their strongest point at 23-25. And they don't start deteriorating till their late 30s strength wise. They only lose speed after 30, not strength.

What the fuck is this RPG bullshit?

Puberty when you're 20s? Sorry anon that shit finished when you were 18~19 you're just a manchild.

Also by 24~25 your the cells in your body, are, in a way, deteriorating. It's a phenomenon called "aging". But yeah if you do exercise you can do great at late 20s, early 30s (anything beyond that and you're streching it OP, since that's also when professional athletes retire when because they can't keep up with the newer ones)

>They only lose speed after 30, not strength.

Again with your RPG life simulator stats.

You lose everything at 30. Everything. You'll see. Maybe not strenght if you exercise and that's it.

I was talking about them quitting after the ReLife management tries to pull some final bullshit like making them forget each other or something. You have a point there, but wouldn't that basically be out of their control? If the BIG EVIL COMPANY wants to go ahead with that, there's nothing Onoya and Yoake could do to stop it, not from what we've seen thus far. Given how extreme it would be, I have my doubts about it.

Yeah, if anything my short management course has taught me, its that a developing relationship would be a bonus and Yoake and Onoya would both get promoted. But it seems that while the company has the best interest of subjects at heart, the Kantou branch is only focused on getting results. If they see it as an anomaly they will definitely try to take action. Maybe Yoake and Onoya will get in touch with HQ? Only the author knows at this point.
>>
>>149002192
>the Kantou branch is only focused on getting results
Yeah, that's bound to be an issue, but if Yoake decides to take any sort of action, it'll probably be after he's finally confided to Kaizaki about it. Kaizaki's "old teacher" vibes are so strong that he's basically being set up for this. As you said, beyond that, only the author knows, since we haven't gotten enough clues yet.

Something's bound to go bad really soon though, no doubt about it.

>>149001495
>Puberty when you're 20s? Sorry anon that shit finished when you were 18~19 you're just a manchild.
The average male doesn't completely stop growing until 21.
That doesn't mean it's the peak either, it'd obviously still take a while to reach your full potential.
>aging at 24
Cells are always deteriorating, jackass. People keep close to their peak for quite a while, actually. Test, muscle mass, bone density and all sorts of other shit doesn't start dropping significantly until well into your 30's. There are plenty of people on a professional level in physical sports over 30. For endurance based sports, or where experience matters a lot you'll even find athletes past 40. And that's only for professionals, people who've kept in top shape throughout their lives. For someone who's always been in meh shape it should take practically no effort to outperform his 17 year old self in all aspects at 30.
>>
>>148986122
>physically-demanding sports like handegg it's as young as 28
That's a fucking weird way of describing it.

Handegg has a massive goddamn rate of injury, and concussions are a serious problem. You'd do better looking at a sport with a lower rate of injury. Hell, plenty of those are even more physically demanding like olympic weightlifting or track which are entirely determined by pure physical ability.

Lots of teenagers are overweight or skinny little girls (male). Doing sports is not so cool now I guess. Most healthy people I've seen are those in college (STEM in particular).
As >>148987074 said. It's about discipline and parents won't force their kids to do anything since in our great liberal culture we care about individuality. Paradoxically, school fatasses tend to become fit since they want to "change" and actually succeed.
