http://www.idigitaltimes.com/dragon-ball-super-anime-english-subtitles-simulcast-coming-crunchyroll-oct-22-563943

>The Dragon Ball Super anime is coming to North America for the first time since its debut in Japan in 2015. Fans can go through Crunchryoll, Daisuki.net and Anime Lab Team to watch an English subtitled version of the latest episode of the anime.

>Toei Animation announced that starting Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. EDT, all three sites will simulcast episode 63 of the Dragon Ball Super anime titled “Don’t Defile Saiyan Cells! The Curtain Rises on Vegeta’s Intense Battle!!" at the same time as the episode airs Japan.

Finally, I won't have to wait 16 hours for subs.

Also, this means that due to the partnership with Crunchyroll and Funimation, we may now start getting the dubbed version a lot sooner than expected. Seems like they're finally getting over all the legal troubles they've been having with the license.
>>
>>148778763
ahahaha fan subbers utterly blown the fuck out.
>>
>>148778797

There has definitely been a MAJOR push to expedite the localisation of Anime to the west.

I was at NYCC earlier this month, and went to several different anime related panels such as Funimation, Crunchyroll, and also a screeing for a new animated Gundam movie.

There has been a TON of emphasis on quickly porting anime over to the west and increasing its ease of access. Most likely to capitalize on the freshness and popularity of new shows, rather than having people pirate everything instead of having to wait over a year for it to come out.
>>
>>148778763

Still wonder why a cash cow like DB is still shit level quality in every category.
>>
>>148778845

Several reasons.

As you said, it's a cash chow, so Toei needs to make sure they constantly pump out new episodes to continue expanding their material.

The mobile phone game, Dragon Ball Dokkan Battle has already covered almost all of the Dragon Ball series, minus a few movies and some of GT. They've already had events based on the U6 tournament arc, and Goku Black.

Dragon Ball's popularity now is at the level it was back in its prime.

Besides, they can always fix things up with the Blu-Rays.
>>
>>148778763
next the English dub then the bitches
>>
>>148778845
Because people will buy it regardless. Less money pumped in means more profit.
>>
>>148779406
I swear to god if we have to wait for the English dub of the Buu saga of Kai to finish on Toonami for Super to come out, I'm gonna be pissed.

Toonami should just air both Kai Buu Saga and Super at the same time.

>>
>>148778763
About fucking time.
Seriously, what took them so long? DB is one of the biggest anime franchises ever, nay it's THE biggest, it's guaranteed money.
>>
>>148779757

Reportedly, Toei was being a dick about the license. Funimation has been after the rights to do the English dub of Super since the Resurrection F movie came out.
>>
>>148779875
What did Toei want? By dicking around so much they've probably lost quite a bit of money.
>>
>>148778843
Pretty much all forms of media are pushing for things to be released in other countries as quickly as possible. Movies and videogames try and have a simultaneous worldwide release, American TV shows get dubbed in less than a week...
The markets used to be separate, but with the internet age people have access to anything, and when they see something they like, they'll want it. If they're told "you can't have it for any price, you have to wait", they'll just pirate and laugh at you.
If you make things legally available, you're guaranteed to at least make some money.
>>
>>148779900

More money probably. They know Dragon Ball is a cash cow, so they probably wanted a bigger cut.
>>
>>148780093

Spot on.
>>
>>148779457
>Toonami should just air both Kai Buu Saga and Super at the same time.
That would be quite interesting. I'm sure CN would be OK with it since DB is guaranteed ratings.
>>
Well that only took forever, what the fuck was Toei even waiting for and why wasn't this an episode 1 thing?
>>
>>148781247
They probably insisted on a more money, probably to the point that it wouldn't actually be profitable for Funimation.
>>
>>148779900
They probably wanted to do it themselves like how they did the Futari Wa Precure dub themselves which was actually fairly solid, name changes aside.

Hopefully, they only air the Funi dub in the US again. Kinda want a new Ocean dub, just like I actually want to see that fabled Kai dub.
>>
>>148781714
Why would they want to do it themselves? And why did they make the Precure dub themselves? First I hear of that.
>>
Is it just 63 onwards, or will they pump out the first 62 episodes too? Wondering on the business decision behind that
>>
>>148781714
The Precure dub is probably a pretty different case than DBS in terms of what happened, considering how popular DB is in the US alone.

I can't remember everything about the Precure dub scenario 100% but they were originally shopping around for somebody who would've liked it but they weren't getting any hits. They did it themselves (with Blue Water in Calgary) and it came out surprisingly decent. At the very least, it ended up being way better than the Glitter Force garbage that happened as the show itself, outside of name changes, was relatively uncut.

I think it only aired in Canada and maybe someplace in Europe though. I don't recall it ever airing in the US at all. It wouldn't have been the first time that Canada got a relatively uncut magical girl show as the same thing happened with the old Cardcaptor Sakura Nelvena dub where the US got a chopped up version and Canada got a (mostly) uncut dub.

Meant for >>148781745

I really should take Quick Reply off. It's pretty annoying.
>>
>>148778845
Money has absolutely nothing to do with supers quality. Please learn how production works before mouthing off
>>
>>148781827
The business decision is behind it is that they've spent over a year trying to work out a deal with Toei.
Wouldn't surprise me if they released 62 episodes. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they already had them subbed and ready to go as soon as they're legally allowed.

It's also taken them an awfully long time to license the Manga. But that one can't be blamed on Toei, but on Shueisha.

Neat. No more waiting for shitty subs. And hopefully this means new movie releases will get a subbed version for the west, in theaters.

Having to wait for Revival of F was suffering.
>>
>>148779457
If they're going to air Super, it needs to be from the Blu Rays. The tv broadcast has been a visual abomination.

How come he didn't kill Gohan?
Shouldn't Vegeta have been able to beat him at this point since he couldn't use Gokus full power?
>>
>>148785532
Vegeta probably would have been able to beat him, but that would require Zamasu to stick around and fight him.

>How come he didn't kill Gohan?
It is quite likely that either he is dead in that timeline or doesn't exist (yet?).
>Shouldn't Vegeta have been able to beat him at this point since he couldn't use Gokus full power?
That is assuming that Vegeta is in this timeline.
And honestly, I would stop asking questions like that... your brain will explode because of the errors in logic that this causes.

I mean, I am loving this Saga and everything BUT there are some rather huge leaps in believably and disbelief that the Dragon ball franchise takes with viewers.
Enjoy it for what it is and DON'T to make sense of it all, it never will.
>>
>>148786202
I'm pretty sure they implied that timeline is the one our Goku is from, so Gohan and Vegeta should be alive

Dub Goku is better than Sub Goku

I don't care if Goku's real character is supposed to be an autistic sociopath, Dub Goku is just right. He feels like a hero without being overbearing like Superman

god ki = divinely controlled ki

Goku retains the ability to divinely manipulate ki = Goku retains the SSG's power ("beyond god")
Vegeta learns how divinely manipulate ki = Vegeta wins SSG's power ("beyond god")
Goku/Vegeta controls his ki and turns SS = Goku/Vegeta turns in "the SS form of a saiyan who have the SSG's power" (aka SSGSS or SS Blue)
Trunks angrily tries to replicate that ki manipulation ("Father and Goku-san used this blue ki, the ki of gods that transcends humanity, to battle the God of Destruction...!") = Trunks nearly turns in "the SS form of a saiyan who have the SSG's power" (a "false Blue")
>>
>>148793120

No, Goku san only used ssg vs Trunks (ssj3 in the anime)
