It's sort of a supernatural mystery based on people using legends of things like youkai and gods to use their power. That in itself is standard but until the latter half it never does powerlevels but instead is about finding out how the people who made the "Package" interpreted the legend for their use and unravelling it.
Main characters are Shinobu, who is naturally loved by youkai and really only cares about himself and his own. Hayabusa, who is his uncle, is a police officer who ends up dealing with Packages with his loli stalker Enbi. Then there's Mai, Enbi's older sister who is a mercenary spy sort of woman partnered with the harmless Sunekosuri (shin-rubbing youkai). Mai's parts are more action oriented and tend to be least interesting since she doesn't have a good banter partner.
For complains about the high school MC, the series spends almost zero time in high school and Shinobu avoids just about every cliche people complain about.
