With my eyes, starting from chapter 12.

It's not worth starting if they don't have at least 50 chapters
>>
>>148732912
The worst feeling is reading like 12 chapters really quick but then realizing the manga hasn't been updated in like 2 years
>>
First chapter might be a good place.

Grab a mug of coffee so you can stay focused. 1 Chapter takes 5 minutes. Read a volume every day that takes about half an hour. After a week that's 7 volumes. After a couple weeks that 100 chapters.
>>
i started reading manga by reading a lot of oneshots and short (+- 20 chapters) manga, and then slowly eased into the longer series.

i used to feel really intimidated by reading alot of series, but i sat down once and found a series i really like. magi. i read magi all the way top current chapter. and i started magi because it was in my local book store so i naturally bought a volume each time i finished.

by finding something i really wanted and going at it on my own pace maybe doing 5 chapters or 15 chapters at a time rather then really speed reading through it my love for reading manga sky rocket.

after reading magi i found other series i really wanted to be interested in, and now im up to date on hajime no ippo. its all about wanting and achieving, no one is forcing you to catch up so quickly and if you have to make some time for yourself to sit down and read then try it.

reading is really fun if you love what it is you're reading about
>>
Just stop reading them if they're shit and if they're good, try to stop yourself to stay healthy because you will struggle to not keep reading

Of course, for really long-running series, there are amazing arcs and shit arcs so sometimes you'll be reading forty chapters in a few hours and sometimes it'll take a few weeks to read another arc

For me the frustration is series I have an interest in but they are updated too slowly and have too many chapters untranslated that I'm afraid to get really interested and then reconsider forcing myself to learn Japanese

I'm like this, I try to start with small ones that have very little chapters released so stuff like trash and Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san if its a manga that really interests me I have no hesitation catching up on it like Terra Formars or OPM.

90% of manga worth reading are 4 volumes or less.

There can't seriously be people that are deterred by a hundred chapters, right?

I mean Conan and Ippo used to seem like titans to me, but once I got through them I was actually thinking of giving Kochikame a shot until I found it there were no translations to read.

if they can't wrap up a story in ~50 chapters or less chances are there will be ton of unecessary filler and therefore not worth reading.

I love reading but have a short attention span, so I just read a couple chapters, go outside for a bit, and repeat until I'm done. Takes me longer to read than the average person, but it works.
>>
>>148739144
But speed reading something so that you can read it again and discover new things is great. You get both the satisfaction of tearing through a massive series quickly as well as a reason to go through it again later if you liked it.

Reading the plot synopsis on Wikipedia.
>>
>100 chapters

You read that in half a day, even less if they are only 20-25 pages long each and mostly action, like Baki.

Now, shit like Gintama and One Piece, I don't envy the guys who only started reading them recently.
>>
>All mangaa I wanna read have 20- chapters
How you guys do it? Where I start?
For real though, starting to read a manga with less than 20 chapters is the worst. When you get sucked in you have no more material to read. You kind of check semi-regularly for new updates but with time you start losing interest and end up putting the manga on hold for a while at around 50 chapters in and focus on reading other things. Months, maybe even years go by and you get reminded of the manga on a thread on /a/ or just casually stumple upon it again when it's finished or has reacher 120+ chapters. At this point you can't really remember what happened exactly and you've forgotten some of the characters and how they're relevant, and reading 50 chapters of a manga where you kind of know the story but kind of have to read it again to remember why what's happening in the continuation of where you left off matters, so you get put off and never finish it.

The worst.

Prolly at the beginning.

I mean this ain't western biz. You don't have to find the jumping in point or worry nearly as much about a change in writer.
It is all pretty much straightforward "beginning middle end" for manga.

Just start reading and don't stop till you get tired of the story or it ends.

The water in the toilet will magnify the pages, so it's easier to read, and the waves in the water will give the action sequences a realistic sense of motion.
