It's pretty mediocre. The plot and characters don't really stand out compared to other crime dramas. Western media is a lot better at portraying this kind of stuff than anime, unless the people end up being immortal or something.

Shochikus recent forays back into TV anime remind me a bit of how more of it used to play out. Then again they haven't really been involved or influenced by the years of production committee shenanigans and concepts that now hold overwhelming sway over what a "popular cutting edge anime" is supposed to look sound and run like. Also hoping Toho can slowly make a difference though they're not going to do it with trendy bullshit like Touken Ranbu.

Very bland for mafia drama. This is dry in a bad way and I liked shows like The West Wing and oldschool law and order. The show has a couple episodes in the middle that are almost inspired but it also drives right into goofy schlock territory. The final episodes get a little better but pull into the "revenge is never worth it" cliche in the most unsatisfying, heavy-handed way possible, but it's still an improvement over most of the show.

Overall not bad, but not as good as the premise could have been.

Other note is that it's a very poor illustration of 1920s america and of mob culture.

Baccano had a lot more going for it than just gangsters though. Gangster business was window dressing for a show mainly about characters doing decidedly un-mafia things and a lot of not mafia characters.

It's less a complaint about accuracy and more a question of "if it wasn't quite mafia and it certainly wasn't Baccano, what did I watch?" Which is to say that it was kinda weak in a lot of places.

Pretty much, both joker game and 91days were garbage that got dropped way too fast regardless of its vocal circlejerk around here

I liked it. It clearly had a fixed budget, but Shuka figured out how to work their way around that problem and the show was carried by a strong narrative.

I went in with hopeful expectations and was satisfied with what I got.

91 Days was my runner-up for show of the season while Mob Psycho 100 was my personal favorite.

Was a super slow poke and only finished it yesterday. I liked it, but honestly I feel like it's going to be one of those shows that's slowly forgotten in favor of bigger hits this year, unless it gets something like an insanely good dub or something and gets loads of normalfag and toonamifag fans. I am a little ashamed my 91 Days folder only has this and the pineapple webm though.

In the pantheon of visual and written media 91 days is okay at best in terms of its uneven writing and its visual direction is rote and drab when compared with live action and even many other TV anime (and that's when it wasn't abhorrent due to misguided animation decisions or outright cheap QUALITY).
