For female mangaka working in shonen magazine, some also used to plainly hide their gender like Arakawa going by Hiromu instead of her real name Hiromi or the D.Gray-Man mangaka for which it was a bit of a mystery and made people curious.

You have to look for it so it can be hard to find, either because it's lost in some old forum or you have to know moonrunes. There's both translated stuff and raws scans of pages from interviews.
I also remember finding videos of old interviews of shoujo mangaka on youtube. There's probably more if you know what to look for.

If you want something translated and easy to find, there's Urasawa no Manben which is pretty great.

It's just a very private art. It basically boils down to sitting at your station all day and often all night drawing, with occasional visits from/to your editor. Even aside from how demanding the job is time-wise, it's just not the kind of lifestyle that attracts the kind of people who'll seek fame.

Hell for many decades there was so little information from mangaka themselves that most were almost entirely self-taught or just straight up copied other mangaka until they got a hang of things. This has obviously changed nowadays (stuff like magazine interviews, general public knowledge and stuff like Manben), but that doesn't change that mangakas are pretty much all shut-ins, because the career requires you to be.
