>Berserk has not been a horror comic for over a decade
I've always taken it as an adventure Manga with victorian/Gothic themes every now and then.
>>148592028
Good. Edgy Berserk was boring and predictable.
>>148592414
Horror is good. It shocks you. keeps you on your toes. You don't know is the adorable little girl just introduced is going to be torn to bits.
Current berserk is too boring and predictable. All the characters are safe. there's no danger.
>>148592792
I'm hoping some xtreme shit is gonna happen.
its almost like the progression of berserk's style is reflective of guts' development as a character
>>148592117
It has nothing victorian or gothic. Good one trying using words that you don't know the meaning of.
>>148593848
It's not fuck off
>>148592792
Back in the day you could predict the plot fairly easily because of that. I prefer the new Berserk.
>>148594043
How was the plot predictable and how it isn't predictable now/
Miura fanboys pls
>>148592028
>comic
good going
now kill yourself back to /v/
>>148594224
"Manga" is just Japanese for comic. The terms are completely interchangable.
Are you going to blow up at someone for not calling an Italian comic a "fumetto" ?
>>148592028
why do you think i dropped it and then despaired at what could've been?
>>148592028
>2016
>caring about Berserk
Make do and go read Junji Ito or somethin'.
>>148592028

Oh no we have developed characters that won't just be killed off oh no how fucking awful
>>148598244

>>148592028
For years now I've been thinking Miura is just playing with us and tonned down the things so later take us with the guard down and throw us some really sick nightmare to the face, that will happend and we will be really shocked and traumatized but also overjoyed for such an awesome play...any moment now...right right?
My biggest gripe is how fucking awful the art got, all these breaks are worthless if he's just going to keep downgrading the quality, he's clearly getting fed up with Berserk, damn shame
>>148594043
>>148592414
>I predicted the Eclipse with 100% accuracy
>I knew exactly how Guts would develop after the Black Swordsman arc
>Pfft, Tower of Conviction? I designed all the characters before Miura was even born
Kill yourselves, contrarian faggots
>>148599451
I think it's just because he can't always ramp it up so this is a break so the horric stuff didn't become boring
>>148592792
>Current berserk is too boring and predictable.
Current berserk gives us 2 chapters a year at best.
If the current calm is just a lie we have no way to know, because the plot hardly even moves.
I swear Miura won't get to finish Berserk at this pace.
>>148599546
Used to be that if Miura introduced any new character they would be either killed (if they were male) or raped to death (if female.) It got really old and attracted the worst kind of fans.
>this thread is serious.
>>148592792
>Current berserk is too boring and predictable. All the characters are safe. there's no danger.
It just seems safe because it takes a million years for anything bad to happen
I was kind of dissapointed that Erica survived the fight with Rakshas. Rakshas is a badass character, and his fight with Rickert, Silat and the Tapasa was great, but it really does feel like no one is in danger now, like Miura is afraid to kill people off.
>>148599652
Yeah that's why it took so long for me to get into it because of how edgy a lot of the fans are like Jesus did you expect guts to be some unemotional fuck forever
>>148599703
Give it time.
People will die.
Casca will go back to Griffith
All will be well.
>>148599652
No one in Berserk of note has been raped other than Guts and Caska though
Usually it's just pitiful peasantfolk who are used as emotional cannon fodder to establish how nasty a bad guy is
We're going to see the eclipse and Casca rape again next chapter though.
>>148594224
>>148598244
>its called MANGA (plural), stupid baka gaijin desu!
>>148601540
>expecting a next chapter
I don't think any of us will live that long anon
>>148599703
Rakshas was absolutely cucked in his fight, considering that the manga hyped him up to be one of the strongest. I can only assume that he'd have an insane advantage when facing Guts, since he's uncuttable
>>148601743
The manga never hyped him up as the strongest. Just weird and mysterious.
Also bet you he's gonna survive, and take Griffith's head once he dies.
>>148601743
>hyped him up to be one of the strongest
I'd say it was pretty good. It's not like he was defeated, I doubt a rocket to the face is enough to get rid of him. I like how Rickert, Silat and Tapasa fight though, because they use everything they can. Just imagine what will happen when Rickert gets to the Bakiraka place. They use versile weapons, from knifes, katars, urumi and throwing knifes up to even a flame thrower in that chapter. Now if you add Rickert, who's made such weapons as those repeating crossbows and a goddamn rocket launcher, things are sure to get interesting.

>What is victorian literature?
Victorian literature is literature written in England during the reign of Queen Victoria, or roughly from 1837 -1901. It is largely characterized by the struggle of working people and the triumph of right over wrong.
>What is Gothic literature?
Gothic fiction, which is largely known by the subgenre of Gothic horror, is a genre or mode of literature and film that combines fiction and horror, death, and at times romance.
In short, kill yourself you uncultured swine.
>>148592792
If all you do is choose shocking outcomes, they cease to be shocking.
>>148592028
>Innsmouth
>Not horror
C'mon guy.
>>148602471
There needs to be tension. Jill was always in danger, and because she's a side character it was unclear if she'd live. Compare her to Isma, who seems to have a magic protection bubble around her. She's never in danger.
A sense of danger is needed for tension.
>>148599703
it's because they still have some role to play in griffith's downfall anon just look at where gut's is right now
>>148602349
>It is largely characterized by the struggle of working people
If you're working dirty commie literature, maybe. Otherwise it's about incredible optimism and belief in the mankind.
>>148599177
>jungi

>>148592028
Isn't that the point of this current arc?
Heaven amongst the earth is making characters question their intentions.
It is bound to snap back to something grotesque and surreal eventually when the truth starts becoming more and more blatant behind the "miracles" Griffith arranges.
>>148593610
Keep dreaming. Now that we're off the boat, it's going to be a few years inside casca's mind, and with that art style.
>>148602663
This, I feel the exact same way about this generic RPG party he's running right now. It just feels like a third act parallel to the one he had back in golden age.
What chapter is the Holy See Torture Room? I can't find it.
That was the most fucked up page in Berserk.
>>148606368
right at the start of the conviction arc m8
>>148606513
Yes it's 50 pages into Vol. 18
God that entire chapter is fucked up. How did Miura go from drawing that to Guts and his Loli Witch's Adventures in Fairyland?
>>148604498
>>148592028
>He forgot that shit will be going down next chapter
>>148607745
okay I haven't read the stuff from the last couple of months, is it really back in another fucking hiatus already?
>>148607894
You can read it in the very page I posted.
>>148607957
I was hoping it was a troll
>>148604498

If he does he'll die soon after in a going down with the ship moment.
I'll never get what everyone is complaining about.
Yes the fairy island paradise doesn't have mass gore and rape everywhere, who would've thought right? It wasn't that many chapters ago we had fish slaying and monster summoning on Griffith's part.
It is easy to get desensitized to nonstop of one thing.
>>148606658
I honestly think it was the introduction of Schierke. Before that the Falcon of the Millennium Empire arc was looking pretty solid, but then it diverts to Isidro groping Schierke's witchtits for several chapters.
I would prefer characters go through development then just have them get killed of so Guts can get pissed. There are tons of ways to get Guts mad if they really want to.
Even then I think part of the development is that Guts is not some rage dog anymore or is atleast trying his best not to be.
>>148608516
this, witch was the beginning of shiny happy cuddly berserk
>>148608514
>It is easy to get desensitized to nonstop of one thing
that explains why I no longer care about hiatuses.
>>148608570
At some point the story had to start looking up for Guts. He won't defeat Griffith without massive help.
>>148608737
Both guts and Griffith will kill each other and guts will be happy to have been killed by his only true friend who he can be on equal grounds on.
>>148608148
It is a troll. Miura trolling us all.
Berserk should have ended 20 years ago
I always saw it as a fantasy/dark fantasy
>>148592792
Too much tension means I stop giving a shit because every character but Guts turns into a dead man walking so when they do finally keel over I'll just go "as expected" and move on because I knew it was gonna happen one way or another.
>>148594331
Using comic implies you're new around these parts, same way using normie ousts you as someone that doesn't belong here.
>>148599177
Unsettling at times but never scary, good chunk of his stuff is too silly to take seriously.
>>148592028
is that a kelpie
>>148613725
This, berserk isn't horror it's DEEPDARKFANTASY.
>>148614406
Hey buddy.
>>148614100
this was the kelpie
Daily reminder that Griffith did nothing wrong. That is all.
>>148614100
No, it's rape horse. But if you mean right than take a closer look on top of its head.
>>148613988
I guess Miura felt the same way.
