It's only funny sometimes. Like >>148585557 said, Nichijou at its worst when it tries slapstick, which is unfortunately most of the time. But the show is so well animated that it's more than watchable even if it isn't funny.

I could've done without about half of it. Really not a fan of the professor or yuuko's bits at all. Generally liked the teachers and Mio's bits were hit or miss. Anything with a super-long lead-up time had pathetic payoff- hair cube dreams etc.

I think it wins in the small details that aren't necessarily the punchline of the current bit but have their own charm- gundere shooting... Sasahara?

Sakamoto is a cat and doesn't understand what a business card is. Because Hakase is a human, he tries to figure out what it is by observing her reaction, but she herself doesn't really understand what a business card is meant for. She clearly is only mimicking the behavior of adults to feel more grown up. There are several levels of miscommunication, it's funny.

At times, yes

A good joke shouldn't be noticeable. It should appear spontaneous but done with calculation. Every joke in Nichijou you can see it coming from a mile away. It tries to give off the sense that it's mimicking everyday life with a fantastical twist but it lands too far on the fantastical. It's predictable. Life isn't predictable.
