If you ignore that whole thing where he literally let's Dr. Gero use Bulma and baby Trunks as a distraction to escape and flatout tells the future version of his son he doesn't care about Bulma and baby Trunks, when said future version of his son is tasked to rescuing his child self and mother.

While Goku isn't around for much of Gohan's life, he at least gives a shit about his kid enough to die for him twice, instead of having said kid jump through time on two occasions just to ultimately spend time with him.
