Scanlation thread.
Beg for people to translate series you want to read, discuss what you're working on or how you're making /a/ proud with what you're accomplishing!
>>148548340
I wish people would scan Ginga Nagareboshi Gin.
what series are getting rescanned and translated besides blame?
Is miso soup dead?
>>148548340
The old scans for part 5 are terrible.

>>148549878
I'm too shy
how do i redraw?
>>148550859
With your fighting spirit, hard work, guts and autism.
>>148550859
For those bubbles in the last panel? Get rid of the text as cleanly as possible, add in your translated dialogue, then add in any lines where your text hasn't covered the erased Japanese (guess lines as accurately as you can) and colour to match the area around it.
more of keijo would be nice but that'll probably happen sooner or later with the anime
>>148548340
Thought it might be worth asking here. Is anyone interested in continuing Nina-san no Mahou Seikatsu?
Previous chapter was translated but not typeset: http://desuarchive.org/a/thread/145173421
>>148552370
Typesetting that doesn't seem to be too tough, I'll give it a shot tomorrow if I have the time. I don't know Jap so if there's anything wrong with that translation, let me know.
Why is this faggotry tolerated?
>>148555278
Because it's easier than learning moon.
>>148555278
This guy should go suck a canebrake of dicks
>>148555434
The irony is he's not even the translator, he's the typesetter. And a lazy fuck at that.Dialogue isn't centered, script isn't edited or sanity checked. Shits up everything with five weebonics comments per page.
>>148555278
Why does no one bully him out of this?
>>148555278
Manga and group name?
https://exhentai.org/g/959927/b9ba33b279/
I scanlated this porn awhile back, and will probably be doing something new soon.
What are some things I should improve on?
I know I need to diversify my font choices a bit more, that's for sure.
>>148556197The gif credit page is totally necessary
>>148556197
Text could be rearranged to be a bit more ovular in shape.
It's not really a big deal, but if you're looking to improve, that's an easy place to start.
Taking the first bubble of page 4 as an example, I would probably try to typeset as such:
So // you're the // gardener for a // mansion called // Hakugyokurou?
Also, you could break Hakugyokurou into two lines, or try rephrase it so it shows up in the middle instead of at the end (you work at a mansion called Hakugyokurou as a gardener?) (this is not a great example because you end up with "as a gardener" at the end, which isn't exactly an improvement, but the point stands).
Other than that, I think you can shrink the font a bit so they don't quite fill so much of the bubbles.
On page 17, "Please treat me well" could stand to be moved lower.
At least personally, none of this was a big deal when I was jacking it (bad translations, however, are boner killers; it's only now that I really pay that much attention to it.
Jitsu Wa could use a redrawer...
I don't understand how the hell Cobra manga doesn't have a full translation.
>>148555999
Double trips. Nice.
>>148555278
I just looked this up, and wow, this guy must be an actual middle schooler.
No, seriously, we need a redrawer. If anyone can redraw stuff like this, let me know.
Somebody cared about Judos? I liked the first 3 chapters but that's all we got translated. There were 3 volumes aparently.
Scans where?
I love the new scans, but this line bothers me. Are the terms for rapist and gay man similar?
>>148560588
The doorframe by Sakurada's head seems simple, and the stuff in the second panel can be mostly covered up with text, right?
>>148560900
Fuck, I obviously meant Okada, not Sakurada.
>>148560900
What? The doorframe is fine. That's his style. The second part is partially covered up but... then you get stuff like this. Spoilering it because it's kind of spoilers, but there's no way this can be covered up.
I'm not talking about the "A"'s, btw, I'm talking about just the text on the left side.
Please someone do this. Only one volume left.
>>148560985
Aw fuck, did you mean the title text? I didn't even consider that, sorry.
I could probably redraw the title text, but I'd take a while to finish this spoilered page you just posted.
>>148555631
Thanks for making me look up canebrake.
>>148560898
Not really. Gay man is オリジナルポスター (Orijinaruposutā) and rapist is メキシコ人 (Mekishiko hito).
>>148561100
Yep, title text, side text, that's the shit we have to redraw on a weekly basis, and I am currently without redrawer. We may just have to release a LQ version...
>>148561113
Not gonna lie, those look like testicles.
>>148561210
Hmm, that doesn't seem quite right, but if you say so.
Fuck the old translations for depriving us of mental images of Mista beating up a guy for having shit taste in movies.
>>148561666
>Those fucking softened edges and blurry as shit quality in general on the new translation.
Fuck that shit.
>>148561214
I tried the title page as cleaning practice.
Do you have any advice for improvement?
I admit I'm not entirely sure how the mangaka intended the jacket and pants to blend. On the left side, there isn't one distinct line to split the two, and but on the right, it looks a bit incomplete to end the lines as I have.
>>148562391
He's wearing a long jacket, you can't even see his pants. That's just a fold.
Hyouge Mono scanlation restarted after two months!
I praise Ore-sama!
>>148563585
There's a gap of white at the bottom there, which suggests to me that his pants are visible.
Please. It's the last chapter in the series.
http://www.mangahop.com/sekirei/187/
>>148563660
Yeah, but look at the other guy with the same uniform. The jacket covers the top of his pants.
Either way, that part should just be covered by the typesetter before you even start redrawing.
>>148563660
judging by the other uniform his pants are indeed visible
Pumpkin scissors would be good but it's like 20 volumes behind.
>>148563890
>Either way, that part should just be covered by the typesetter before you even start redrawing.
That's fair, but I could use the practice, and if it's usable, then that's cool too.
We might as well just rename these "Redraw Threads".
What are you redrawing, anons?
What do you wish got redrawn?
>>148562391
It's a good attempts. Unfortunately I'm not a redrawer so I can't suggest improvements beyond I don't think you're skilled enough at this point to help. Thanks though.
>>148566849
Can't say it's nice to hear, but thanks for the honesty.
How do I stop people from translating?
>>148567546
Call them names over the internet.
Any good place to download raws for Buster Dress? Got a guy that started translating chapters, I think he got up to chapter 6 now.
So what is the go to program for cleaning scans. I have been scanning books for sad panda for a while and want to start doing some freelance cleaning. I have been using gimp because it is free, but I think it is time to step my game up. If I have to get photoshop I will get it but if there is something better/cheaper out there I would like to do that.
>>148556776
Thanks for the feedback
Question for translators: Has anyone used CAT tools for manga translation? As part of a uni course I'm learning to use Trados Studio, Deja Vu and so on, and I was wondering if, using some OCR and so on, they might be something I could use in scanlating some manga genres where things like termbases and translation memories might come in handy, like sports manga.
Can someone give me some tips on how to level better. I have mostly improved by looking at youtube videos and online guides, so I am always looking for ways to get better.
This is currently what I can do, if anyone could give me some tips to improve that would be a big help.
Anyone know where to find good Korean scans of Ayakashi Utahime Karuta? I've tried in marumaru and manna space but no luck. I'm asking for a translator friend of mine.
>>148555278
I don't get it. What's he sperging about?
>>148548340
How about show us the Japanese raw alongside that? Both TLs seem kinda sketchy.
