There's very few mangaka who have no assistants and really famous even fewer.

I think Inoue draws the characters and has assistants helping with the backgrounds. It's still impressive that he can pull out stories like Slam Dunk, Real and Vagabond, even though Vagabond isn't really his story, but it definitely has a lot of his original touch.
