I wasn't sure how to word it, but no, the series itself didn't actually do it that much outside of F6. It's the official art that came out since after the series ended that feels realy blatant about it.

Seeing the little ad with new animation made me feel hopeful again, because since the show ended (or ep 25, really) it feels like they've almost exclusively been referencing old jokes and facial expressions and the element of surprise is totally gone.
