once you watch real gangster movies like Godfather, Carlito's Way, Goodfellas, The Departed, ect. you can't enjoy it.
It just feels watered down.
I didn't feel attached to any characters, main character was shown to be an empty shallow vessel of a revenge character. I just wish he showed more emotion, and because it's anime, even in the prohibition period they can't really get into the other drug aspect of gangsters or their sex life in the prohibition period like Goodfellas did.
It's not insightful and doesn't capture the fun viceful lives that gangsters live like in Goddfellas, and although it captures the revenge aspect of it, it was given to a shallow main character.
Michael Corleonne did it all better, hell his father Vito did the whole vengeance thing better in Part 2.

This is not a controversial statement.

91 Days was good. It had an engaging plot, and I think this thread is undervaluing its character work, but the animation was definitely low-tier. The show just didn't have enough of a budget to be more on that front.

With the amount of restrictions animator have I doubt we will ever get one. If you want to show gangster life, well the prohibition era kind or gangsters a few decades later, animators would not be able to cover the themes of their hedonistic and criminal life style, which is a huge thing in gangster movies.
