Will there be another revival of the series?
Or did the light novels actually finish long ago?
Apparently it did and the ending was garbage.

>Will there be another revival of the series?
Probably not, which sucks because the LNs have a lot more to them. Too bad Evo and R-evo fucked it up.
>no more of my beautiful wife animated
This is truly the darkest despair known to man.

What about the OAVs?
I know the more recent ones have been garbage, but Book of Spells was still pretty cool.

Have some Lina
They should just get rid/kill of Pokota, then we're good.
Funny how a 17 year old from back then was much different from 17 year olds of today

That wouldn't change the fact that they stole arcs and characters from the LN and shoved them into a blender while adding OC shit, even if Pokota was by far the largest portion of garbage.
Once they decided to take a retarded OC/mix mash instead of purely original while trying to make sense of continuity like Try, there was no longer any possibility of Slayers continuing ever again.
And if you think about how many years it's been between Rev/Evo-R and the last Slayers that came out before them, it's understandable. The art style while charming, lacks the appeal to the major demographic nowadays and given how Slayers is practically the poster child of fantasy parody tropes, it's rather hard to compete in an age where fantasy / MMO / isekai / parody are all very very common and take elements of Slayers into their fold in varying quantities. When they were making Rev/Evo-R you could tell by how they were basically going Naburo: The Next Generation that they were just milking the dying cash cow and gave no fucks afterwards.
Slayers was golden cause it was a complete package. Only the music can really claim to stand out on it's own as timeless and Megumi could be singing for other shit and still have the same effect, she was bigger than Nana.

That's not really true, Lina was intentionally made less busty. About the only thing you could argue is a non busty MC in her place today would be flat but that's pretty trivial.
Other 80s/90s shit has roughly the same proportions spaced out across series, just different curve preferences at the time due to what they consider attractive.

All I just want is another Slayers original story like the OAVs, perhaps adapting a story more faithfully from the light novel while disregarding the continuity of Rev/Evo and the more recent OAV (that really show the disconnect from the earlier seasons and the "heart" of the show). I feel Hajime Kanzaka just kinda got tired of where the series was going, but a new OAV could definitely take in his input too.
>Slayers was golden cause it was a complete package.
YES. It wasn't so self-referential and meta to turn off newcomers nor does it rely heavily on it for humor. There was always a certain sense that the story was somehow taken seriously, but that expectations aren't always as they seem.

>All I just want is another Slayers original story like the OAVs
Original stories take work, easiest method is just adapting Knight of the Aqualord or some material that's already been published, but given how executive meddling wants Zel and Amelia all the time that's gonna make things hard even if you can talk them into how it could turn a profit.
>I feel Hajime Kanzaka just kinda got tired of where the series was going
LN weren't exactly booming in profitability back in the day. It wasn't poor by any means but something like Slayers which was basically the equivalent of say Slam Dunk in WSJ at the time, was making far less money even though Slayers has so much more media merchandising.
Honestly I think their worse mistake wasn't doing Try, but actually not continuing right afterwards with the source material striking the iron while it's hot. Better people get sick and tired of it like Gundam than just fading away into a cult classic.
>It wasn't so self-referential and meta to turn off newcomers nor does it rely heavily on it for humor.
But at the same time, that complete package, it's well rounded features was also what makes it hard for it to come back today. It didn't rely on any one aspect, yet at the same time if you flip it around, that means you can't carry the series through a single attribute alone.
A good example would probably be Berserk, which if not for the art, would have long since been cancelled due to it's massive hiatus. HxH has this same issue but while I can't claim to be too familiar with HxH since I only watched the anime and thus don't know the charms of the manga yet, HxH doesn't appeal to me as a complete package, rather it's more like a silly battle shonen that takes itself very seriously despite everything being well silly.
Slayers doesn't have that, cause it's practically the foundation for many LN today. It's like expecting Shakespeare to compete in sales.
Does he find happiness
>>148444621
Don't know, but according to the author he finds a cure eventually, but is obviously not covered in the LN. Most of the real meat of the epilogue is amusingly enough just from author interviews and not real published material.
I'm kinda confused about Xellos' allegiance. By the end of Next, I had the impression he was really working for the Lord of Nightmares.
>>148444742
He's the priest and warrior for the Greater Beast, who was assisting Hellmaster Phibrizio. If the Lord of Nightmares is basically THE Mazoku, then I guess he would have been serving it in the end, like a man who serves a saint still serves God.
>>148444940
But LoN basically gives no fucks anyways. I don't believe it was ever implied she ever specifically wanted anything. Whether shit returns to 0 until new worlds crop up and life begins anew, or things continue as they are now, she really hasn't expressed herself of any direction she favored.
Only thing we know is that you can summon her and she'd do whatever the hell she wanted, which usually involves killing your target cause that's what you are asking of her during the summon and she gets to choose whether or not she even gets summoned. Ragna Slave is in essence just a phone call or text message to LON to get her ass over.
The original series ended in 2000, Special ended in 2008, and as all of these shows are just elaborate advertisements for their source material, no. Post more Lina.
>>148444206
I don't think that the second half of the LNs was even finished by Try's conclusion. That said seeing Gourry actually go for the Blast Sword afterwards rather than the cop out in Revo would have been ideal.
>>148445339
It was stated that information about LoNeesan was scarce to the point that even Hellmaster had a ton of misconceptions about it. In the LNs she only lashes out at Hellmaster after possessing Lina after Hellmaster attacked her without realizing who she was, which petered her out and made her leave. If Hellmaster had actually bothered to do research beyond differentiating between the complete and incomplete versions of Giga Slave then he would have succeeded. It was pointed out that if it was Shabby he wouldn't have made the same mistake by attacking Lina/LoN.
The anime was slightly different as Lina specifically wanted LoN to save Gourry, which was all she could do before Lina stopped working as a conduit.
>>148445339
The Mazoku's understanding is that LoN wants to return to the sea of chaos, and so they destroy everything. But they don't exactly have a direct line. The Shinzoku probably had some form of communication with her too, but since they're all fucking dead you don't know much about the potential other half of the equation.

that ra-tilt sure is a powerful spell
