The shitty movies, the shitty 2016 anime, it's all punishment for never buying this shit and putting any money into it. Everyone I know including myself who likes berserk doesn't even own anything related to it. Berserk is so well known in the west I can't think of any other reason it would get such a shitty treatment. We should at least be getting something similar to what hellsing got.

You know damn well the movies' CG was miles ahead of the flaming shitshow we got this year. The trilogy was fine, definitely third was the best, but at that point I was legit getting sick of the Golden Age if only because of how hard they keep pushing it.

Well actually I had to take bits and piece out of many models, then join them, remove parts, play around to reform them a bit. And yeah it looked quite plastic as I did the texture with paint and added a cubemap to you know make it even more shiny. Currently toying with metal textures

But hopefully as you said it looks quite like in the anime.

What I didnt like about the movies is that they dont develop any of the characters one bit. Guts is the one that suffers the most from this, if you were only to see the movies, you would conclude that guts is just a mindless brute who only loves fighting and challenges and killing without second thoughts subordinating hig life goals to what Griffith does or might think, whereas in the manga and anime we see that he is actually a very complex human being that is constantly asking himself why he does things and what's the purpose of his life.

Understandable though as the movies have to tell the whole golden age arc and eclipse story in like 4 hours and a half.

Each arc should get its own season damn it. And quit fucking skipping the Lost Children arc.

The movie's CG was far worse than the series. They just made some smart choices such as mixing drawn heads on CGI bodies so it wasn't always in your face. They had the foresight to try and make sure the CG wasn't the pivotal part of most of the scenes. But the background characters are a lot worse than the background characters in the 2016 series.

I didn't say it for a good thing, it was a comment on the plasticy texture. The sheen looks a bit better here I think. Try adding a more rugged normal map. And there must be something you can do on the neck. At least have the helmet apply a 2D chainmail texture on the neck area

Just watched the second movie after giving it the cold shoulder for like 4 years. It was alright, ironically the battle of Doldrey the movie is named after is the worst part of the movie, skipping so much from the manga that it almost felt like filler.
