I like Izetta.
The place they met.
Sorry, anon. We lances now.
True. Even if hime-sama marries Prince Henry to get that blessed English firepower, she is still meant solely for Izetta and nobody else. I'm a little worried about the overly handsome infantry officer, but we'll see.
I really appreciate how much time this show spends bashing on élan, stupid strategy, and military retards. That whole bit where the General was ranting about how Germanian cowardice just made the men braver and its immediately being followed up with absurdly depressed and battle-worn infantrymen slogging through the forest in those stupid powder-blue uniforms got me in the feels.
I like this show.
Fuck, you're right. Never trust the handsome nice guy. It's always better to get with the exiled magic chick, even if she's a bit odd.
Guy will totally sell them out to the Nazis in exchange for medical supplies or some shit. Fuck handsome guy.
I dunno why, but the character design and some of the art really reminds me of Yuri Kuma. Couple that with the folkloric interludes and I could have sworn for a bit that Ikuhara was somehow behind this one.
Handlebars and easier to reload by foot, I guess.
Why did a pack of peasants stab their princess?
Will I ever experience a love
friendshiplike the kind Hime and Izetta share?
How long before she and Hime end up in Dachau
Part of Nazi leadership was highly into the occult.
Eylstadt people would still kill her for being a witch.
Germanian empire would make her a high ranking officer and symbol of adoration.
That's just how normal people often behave when they're worried about injured or ill people. Especially in regards to royalty back then. You might as well ask why people take their hats off indoors or stand up when high class people enter the room.
I suppose that makes sense if it was considered the cultural norm (I didn't get those vibes from the military officers though). It still seems weird to hurt yourself though for honor when the person you care about wouldn't want that.
I know it wasn't because she was nervous because she very clearly made the conscious decision.
I like that there are lots of different outfits for the main characters, rather than just one they wear every day as if it's welded to their character design. That's often the sign of something well-made.
Did /a/ raise Fine well enough to save the country?
Honestly, the dress seems really out of place. I imagine it'll probably be something used in key visuals for promotion, but ultimately a one-off thing in the actual show. Kind of like Madlax's white dress, only much less pointless.
It's all clear now.
The final boss will be Golden Luger Guy's sister who possessed witch powers through Germanian experiment. Now she wields her brother's gun and seeks vengeance on Fine and Izetta.
Me too. They seemed like good guys.
The YuYuYu/NoWaYu artists are jumping on the bandwagon.
This woman is your friend. She fights for freedom, and German blood.
CRUSH THE GERMANS
WITH YOUR WITCHCRAFT
Because I'm still angry.
12 years later, I'm still angry.
Is the lake just really shallow? Or does a witch actually weigh less than a duck?
Nuh-uh, nope, never a good thing.
Because she has self-esteem issues. She considers herself lower than dirt in comparison to the princess. She also feels guilty because the princess risked her life for her in the past.
Put the picture together and it's totally understandably she doesn't want to eat until the princess wakes up.
I'm sure she's gonna get better though. Fighting for the people will help her get a sense of self-worth.
>Was on the "Maybe" list
>First shot of the show is a Corgi running with a cute blonde girl
I can't wait for the bodies to hit the floor.
How many cours is this, one?
Okay, what the fuck is up with those fighter plane sound effects? The engines sounded great, but the firing shots... sounded like out of Star Wars.
Did they actually sound like that in WW2, or Japan just being Japan again?
They sounded like they were ripped right out of WW2 combat footage. I think they only sounded weird because the sound quality was obviously so different from the rest of the show.
These are vids of Allies shooting down German planes, but you can tell that the guns sound pretty freaking pewpew.
The thing that may be amiss is that the Bf109s as shown were at least E-3s and so those guns in its wings were 20mm cannons, which probably sounded different from its cowl-mounted machine guns.
Will Izetta turn the tides of war by herself or will Britannia intervene somehow?
She'll do it by herself. If Britannia gets involved, it'll happen much alter, and then Hitler-kun will unleash his own witch and literally erase the Brit army from the landscape, leading to a dramatic showdown between witches for the show's climax.
Was this flashback one of the happiest scenes of anime ever?
I hope the story goes like Izetta beats the other witch, and the Nazis try to kill her for being worthless, but Fine and Izetta intervenes.
Then Fine brings her to back Eylstadt and starts a witch harem.
I liked the sorcerer's apprentice dance more
Yes. I legit teared up at it. Unbelievably innocent and cute.
Fuck you, Hitler. You ruined this magical yuri relationship, you fucking faggot.
What if the other witch is Fine? The hair looks kinda similar in the OP. Imagine if she gets kidnapped by the germs and they awaken her powers and control her with some sort of brainwashing. Then Izetta would have to stop her and save her. Could be pretty cool and cute if done well.
Most people, including soldiers, don't want to randomly kill people they barely know. But, because of the situation, they want to survive, so they go through with it, even if they regret it after.
For a show to actually show this kind of emotional dilemma puts it leagues ahead of most anime. Most anime is pure trash that tries to shoe-horn in "Oh, they're not ACTUALLY dead, just incapacitated!" or maximum edge-lord "No one deserves to live" otaku shit.
>Fine regal background is known since childhood so there is no room for that kind of twist.
The white witch could actually be part of the royal family, and the power might have been dormant in Fine's blood line all this time.
>Besides Izetta would be able to notice if she was a witch as well.
We don't know if witches can detect each other like that. And even if that was possible, maybe she can't tell when the power is in a dormant state.
It's kind of a crazy idea, but I think it's the sort of thing Yoshino might go for.
Izetta's power is severely limited. She's going to need some serious make-out time with her princess before she can power up enough to take on the entire Nazi war-machine.
Although her powerlevel-test near the end of the episode seemed larger then it was at the start of the airbattle.
>Mind control/good character becoming evil is so overdone
Yeah, but it's not like anime doesn't do overdone. And there's Yoshino to consider as well. Besides, it would definitely be more dramatic if Izetta has to face Fine than a random witch.
Any in case, the hair does look alike.
Blondie seems like a good lad.
Hope he gets good screen time and action scenes.
Only Obermayer was in the room.
And there was some time for hime and him to talk alone, she may have filled him in on the details.
Looks like Fine has more hair on her head. Anyway I hope Yoshino discards as many cliches as possible, not hard if he already discarded one of the biggest ones (school setting)
If Eylstadt takes on the role of Russia in this universe then they should cause enough of a drain on the German forces that the brits and American can move in and help clean up.
But not before the Brits betray Eylstadt a few times, thus resulting in the Berlin wall.
>If Eylstadt takes on the role of Russia in this universe
Did you miss the entire first episode hammering down the point that they are a small, technically proficient, monarchy located in the alps, with a teeny population and small army?
Rewatching that scene.
Handsome has no clue what Fine meant when she emphasized that it was literally a miracle she survived. So he has not been filled in.
And yeah they didn't drop anything that would clue him in, right up until Izetta says "I'll protect your country" but we don't see his reaction to that.
>cause enough of a drain on the German forces that the brits and American can move in and help clean up.
I think you may be forgetting that it's currently only 1940.
Not that guy, but pretty sure a little girl who's trying to balance on the damn thing while flying is gonna have trouble with the recoil m8, the anime was fine in how they handled it
unless I'm misunderstanding the argument here
>but pretty sure a little girl who's trying to balance on the damn thing while flying is gonna have trouble with the recoil m8
You're directly countering that recoil with two entire bodyweights pressing down on it. Even when Izetta is on her own, the recoil is not going to come close to bucking her off.
The recoil is going backwards and the body is pointing downwards, that doesn't mean she won't suddenly move backwards really fast and lose balance m8
this is like algebra tier physics rn
While we're on the subject of realism in anime, how can two girls handle flying at a speed of over 400km/h without any sort of protection? They shouldn't even be able to keep their eyes open flying that fast.
Recoil isn't only going backwards. That'd be the main component, yes, but not all of it. And you've got to realize, there was about 200 kg of adding its momentum to the gun's own. Recoil is about overcoming momentum. Furthermore, you seem to think that recoil is much more severe than it actually is. It's really not much force at all, even considering its an anti-tank rifle.
There were cases in WW2 where pilots were flying without a front canopy panel due to it getting shot out. Admittedly they were generally wearing goggles, but not always. As for the lack of goggles, magic and MC powers. If magic can make the thing fly in the first place, it should be able to divert some wind away from your face.
This show is turning out to be great
I hope I can get more flight scenes from this show
Long live belka
The music during that dogfight
The fact that the first aerial battle is over a snowy mountain
Wew I think it's time lads
I hope there will be a bathing scene where Hime-sama admires Izetta's superior boobage
When someone you care about is suffering you either are too distracted by fear and worry to consider eating, or you feel guilty about enjoying yourself while they are in pain. It's basic empathy.
>Although her powerlevel-test near the end of the episode seemed larger then it was at the start of the airbattle.
I'd guess that's her Mana pool, and she had already destroyed the plane they were on to escape before battling the other planes.
Is Granny dead?
Also, how was she captured? The German lieutenant said a whole company was wiped out, but Izetta seemed this was her first time killing when fighting the Messerschmitts.
And the Russians fired them prone.
>The German lieutenant said a whole company was wiped out, but Izetta seemed this was her first time killing when fighting the Messerschmitts.
That sounds strange. Maybe she fell into some trance/rage and doesn't remember, but then she should have a gap in her memory and wonder what the heck happened.
Or she just gets sad about killing like that every time, or they put that there because they wanted to show some characterization and didn't want to show her getting captured (yet).
One would assume so.
Few possible explanations:
Her power went wild and she acted unconsciously, so she doesn't know that she did it.
It isn't her first time, she just really isn't used to it- i.e. her reactions were poorly written.
The writer fucked up by including the "whole company" line.
I'm going to go with the second one, or perhaps the third.
I took all that as meaning that she draws her power (or at least some of it) from the land around her. After she does it the first time, when the fighters show up, she says "I can fight here." Then, when they cross over the mountain, she suddenly loses a bunch of power and stops being able to maneuver.
Rewatching that scene, you may be right. Though she probably has to still siphon and store her power, or it is partial as you say. If not, I hope they don't use it as a convenient plot device.
I had another idea, namely that it's somehow connected to hime, and lowest after hime has lost consciousness. Not sure about that though, as her powers seemed to fade before hime even fired her shot.
They were talking about the coffin, and Belkman said the he didn't know if the person in it destroyed those troops, but that the Emperor is a big fan of the legend, and it'd be kinda romantic if it were true.
