One of the things that really annoyed me from that series is that doesn't matter how powerful the main characters start and how much they improve through the series, they were always mid tier at most.

Hisoka was specially disturbing, when they learn to use Nen it looks like they were shortening the gap, but NO top hunters are still on levels far far beyond them. No matter how much the powerlevel increased Hisoka was always on the top tier.

One Punch Man is a parody and a complete middle finger to the tropes of shonen battle manga. Saitama is overpowered as fuck, but that's also made him suffer a midlife crisis. It's actually one of the few times where a ridiculously overpowered protagonist actually works.
