I don't think a 100+ ep show could be called rushed. Basically it had told the story of its two main characters so everything after that was, 'oh by the way'. Perfectly serviceable 2bh

Reinhard and his "lel galactic" kingdom was just a paper tiger made from paper, vanity, pride and Reinhard's daydreams. Tanaka spotlighted the wrong guy from the start. The show would end better if it revolved around Kircheis or Yang.

That was kind of the point. People in the show are irreplaceable. Other people can step into their role but they'll never be quite as good at it. It gave some weight to the deaths. Unlike other shows that just replace someone who dies with a cardboard cutout of the old character.

Julian just used Reinhard's illness to enforce his policies. If Kaiser would be his usual self, he couldn't even get close to his flagship.

The show was still pretty good until Reuental's death (in fact it's one of the greatest episodes). Afterwards the author decided that the Terran cult and Rubinsky were too much of a pain to end properly so he killed them off quickly along with Obrestein for no reason.

Which is a shame, as the show was pretty good at examining other parts of human history. The terraists could have been a good look at why terrorism appears and propagates, but instead they were Saturday morning cartoon villains.
