ITT: Good guys that look like villains, and vice versa

Polnareff is pure
>>148374011
He was the villain in his introduction arc.
>>148374040
pure turtle

delet
>>148374183
Usually when a villain is intended to become a good guy, they'll look like a good guy from the start.
>>148374314
Just a reminder if Araki didn't pull the "I can't even make a phonecall" shit Polnareff could have been an ulltracharged Stroheim with a stand and personality.

Interesting point. Is Guts a good guy?
He only looks like an unimportant side character but still manages to ruin the whole series.
>>148375886
He's the good guy but you can simplify and twist the story to make him sound like an asshole : Guts spends his time killing people because he has a fucked up bloodlust, he tried to rape Casca and he killed hundreds of children, he also only brings misery and death wherever he goes. Also he looks like a villain.
That's part of what makes the Berserk story compelling, because despite all that fucked up shit Guts is a really good guy and most people would have done worse than him in the same situation. Circumstances forced Guts take the role of a monster, but he still struggled to retain his humanity.

I get mixed signals about Berserk's themes. At first I thought it was all about how the line between humans and monsters was a blurry one, and that fighting them required you to kinda dance on that line.
But then we get Schierke who just magics them away and everyone gets magic swords and shit.
>>148378125
I agree with your interpretation, but you need to understand that IdolBerserk != GutsBerserk (vol1-20). Pretend they're two different different series.
>>148378125
it's turned a corner, I feel like if it hadn't the story would have become repetitive
>do I kill Griffith?
>or do I protect Caska?
ad nauseum
now Guts has analysed his priorities, and he's decided that as Caska is the only thing in his life that he loves more than anything, more than revenge, more than fighting strong battles, more than letting anger decide his course
he is much calmer now, even in fights, he thinks more clearly and doesn't get as emotional as he used to, and that's because he has people to support him and to confide in when necessary
tl;dr version: Guts has matured as a character, and now doesn't need his dark edgy side any more, as he finds it more fulfilling to try and help the person he loves and have a group he can call his comrades
>>148374011
His pokemon looks good though.
>>148378386
That's pretty stupid
>>148378125
>>148378217
ackchyually
>>148379178
Is this Guts mentor or something, like the wise magical negro of the series?
>>148379417
More like the kid rapist of the early series
>>148378386
>Guts has matured as a character
Meh. He's just protecting his potato waifu, but he'll have to go Berserk again eventually. It'd way too lame to end on "Berserk just went on cute lolis island with his waifu and stopped thinking about his nemesis". Or else you should rename the series "Serene". Also, we're not sure how fulfilling will Casca's return be. Guts is still suffering and will probably suffer more after Casca does something dumb. He's still tormented by the Eclipse and I don't think Casca can absorb all of that.
>>148375886
Of course.
>slays demons
>saves innocents
>working to take down ruler who came to power on the sacrifice of those who trusted him
It’s kind of a Rorschach vs. Ozymandias thing.
>>148383207
Which is this suppose to be?
>>148374011
It's the lack of eyebrows. Good or bad, they freak you out.
>>148383987
I wish there was a happier end, and not what happened.
>>148374314
still totally looks like a villain.
>>148379417
He's a personal trainer. Very personal.
She's a really nice person, though!
not so much true evil as he looks more like a quirky henchman.
>>148384239
well originally, his adopted daughter Haide, who he only adopted later in his life to get revenge on the man who stole his former lover and his life after being falsely accused and imprissoned for years, redeems him and they get married after she helps him get revenge on his former antagonists
Dont know why the anime turned her into a 3rd wheel, probably to show how strong Albert's homolust was that it actually broke the Gankutuo curse
