When you live in a relatively small apartment with no safe place to keep your bike outside, the bedroom makes good sense. The bike stays out of the way while you go about most of your business (eating, showering, sitting in front of the PC) and you simply roll it out of the way towards the door when you need to do stuff that requires more room, like accessing the wardrobe or working out.

Sure, dragging the bike up a few flights of stairs while loaded with groceries is a bit of a bitch, but it also makes you tougher.
