I liked it.
Made me think that we were going to get a a deep lesson about how life moves on and you just have to play with the cards that you are dealt in life. Kind of made me think that we were getting a reincarnation or multiverse theme as well.
When the story took the sappy love story direction, I was still kind of invested but nowhere near as much if they had just been friends to the end.
Had me on the edge of my seat when the comet was falling and all the news stations around Japan were reporting it. Once again it had built that whole situation up so perfectly to make you think that they were going to live, giving the audience this hope that would have bee satisfying if they had all been wiped out anyways (not in an edgy way either).
Absolutely pissed that we didn't get to see more of Taki in Mituha's body. The shitty montages and OP did the film no favors.

Taki blew it with Miki...
Literally a 9.5/10, awesome personality, good fashion taste, most of the work was done for him by Mitsuha, all he had to do was keep his cool during the date and he would have been in home run territory. But noooo, we get stuck with the typical Japanese MC with literally no balls.

Never bothered watching anime before, but I saw on several news sites it was a big thing in japan, and I thought I would check it out. It's very nice to look at and as I don't watch anime I found the story to be quite original and well done, however I imagine there's a fair amount of body swapping anime out there so I can't really make a judgement on that. Although the plot certainly kept me invested in the two main characters which hasn't happened in any A-list Hollywood movies I've watched for a long time.

I was pleased there was a happy ending though after I found out Shinkai's other movies had pretty depressing ends.

Overall I loved this movie, it was great to look and gave me some old fashioned feels as well, 9.5/10. This is from a normie who doesn't watch much anime though so take it with a pinch of salt.
