Like how every /a/ thread about any show seems to be a waifufaggotry station, instead of an actual discussion. Because really, threads about JoJo or Mob Psycho this last season were the best examples of actual discussion, at least that I'm aware of. Obviously it's not without fault, but at least they're enjoyable.

Berserk threads were like this, but since the "anime" every thread is "Look how shitty Berserk is now days" instead of talking about the plot. And even if you talk about it, you'll hardly get responses.

Problem of old shows is that most discussion is already passed. You can yet again talk about the lost children arc in berserk but I dont think there is a lot left there to talk about. The new chapters are slow and the only other thing is the new anime. Which is not that great.

So what is left, the girls in a show. Unlike the plot, which you just take as given, it is not like you can make it any different, the girl are subjective. You can take a girl and discuss it at nausiam. And even there you see in older shows that the lines already have been drawn. (think eva with rei being a doll and asuka being a bitch). It is the same problem that plagues generals on other boards (no i dont mean just /vg/, /k/, /ck/ generals also have the same problem). If you are new to a series or thing you have a lot of questions and a lot to discuss. But most people there already discussed it. After browsing it 2 or 3 times everything is just a repeat and you already know the question and its 3 answers it will get. Hell I got it when I started browsing /a/ again after being gone for a while. Now when I hit up the catalog you see "this is your X for the night" and I know it will be a discussion of girls from that show. I see "incest thread" and know it will be YnS, oreimo and mikan. I can thumb 80% of all posts since I already know its contents.

Long story short stuff with no new content will just be shitposting about subjective things. Just take haruhi for example, except that it drew some of the worst anime enthusiasts out there it also has no new content.

KyoAni fanatics absolutely drive people away from the shows, or at least discourage active discussion on /a/, and I can't say I blame others for staying away. Hyouka might have it the worst, followed by Euphonium yuriposters. The sins of Haruhi's fanbase have been dulled with time, but its the same as it ever was.

A KyoAni fan's only redeeming quality will be his proclivity for posting high quality official art you might not have seen before, but is image dumping really a good thing on /a/?

Regarding EVA, I didn't word the yellow text properly. I haven't seen EoE. I'll watch it eventually since you suggest it and since most EVA threads consider it important but it has to sit at the bottom of my backlog. Why? Basically my argument wasn't wrong hence why you never made a counter argument and instead merely state that EoE redeems the 1/10 end. I may come away as much a fan as you once I watch it but that's still not a fair point since the show should be able to hold it's own if it wants the kind of reputation it holds among NGE fans. I'm not an NGE hater by any means. As you know better than I do they ran out of funds and rushed to conclude it despite literally dropping some of the thickest (and most interesting imo) parts of the plot right before that. If they didn't talk about the government conspiracy and Rei's true identity its mediocre end probably wouldn't have been so impactful to the overall feel of the show for me.
