As much as I love the characters and the story overall, the anime was a clusterfuck for most.

The character designer and the art director are pretty much nobodies, only saving grace is sidu's direction. I'm looking more foward to Reload, this feels more like something done for the sake of relevancy if anything.

The PVs are hinted to take place in a past timeline. In route 1, Shintarou gets killed trying to save Konoha and ends up in the daze where he meets Ayano and get her eye power to leave the daze.
In route X, he kills himself as a last ditch effort to meet Ayano as he could not move past her death. He makes it into the daze, but it's stuck in his own personal hell with no way out.

I'm really not digging the noses upfront in the anime
to think that they had the chance to totally cheap out on animation, shading, etc. complete with eye-searing colors and still look legit but they did not do that

They may as well have gone for the bad end instead of trying to shoehorn in a good end for the loop despite having less episodes to work with than main characters.

The show as a whole honestly wasn't even too bad (one-off fiascos like the infamous CG aside) once it hit a decent stride in the middle up until they realized they were running out of screentime to work with and the last couple of episodes were an absolute clusterfuck as a result.

Letting Jin direct the anime looks good on paper, and I can see where he was going where he wanted to try and follow the order of the original songs, but it ended up making everything into a trainwreck. The only good thing of the anime was the ending where it confirms that Ayano and Hiyori are brought back through the rules the series had set, and not some asspull.
