Another season dominated sales wise by a combination of Fujobait and Lantis Yuri Mecha Bitches. Literally the only title in the top 4 right now that doesn't involve Lantis supplying the theme songs is Touken Ranbu. That'll change of course once UtaPri gets listed. Oh and fuck me Love Live is still the #1 ranked anime BD even after almost everything has been registered and received it's first episode boost so if Uta no Prince with a concert event ticket can't top it once it goes up then expect a really low selling Fall season.

I have the biggest hate boner for Lantis/Bamco. They kind of fucked everything up with their idols and have basically monopolized anime music but they've managed to home in on whatever limited weakpoints I have with their character designs that get endless quality fanart and I can't deny I still enjoy the regularly scheduled Gundam entry. They're kind of like a necessary evil but have really gamed the system fucking hard lately. 150K BD sales for one franchise in one week is particularly disgusting and yet they've managed to do it across at least 4-5 different franchises since 2010.

Being a game/music/anime/amusement park/gacha machine/broadcaster/arcade/worlds 3rd largest toy company allows them to cheat fucking hard in ways that other producers can't entirely. Things like Code Geass, Yamato, Kuroko's Basketball, Tiger and Bunny, Horizon etc aren't too shabby either, if it weren't for their tendency to chose really fucking poorly on originals at least once a season they'd easily be the most consistent producer out there in terms of finding ways to cash in easy, but as it stands they just have a heavy advantage, especially as long as they run that monopoly on anime games and music and the borderline one they've had going on BD lately.

Even if Gundam loses out on BD which is possible since it's a daytime show and the fact that it's doing what it is in and amidst late night anime is retarded to begin with it'll more than make up for it with the models and games it has lined up. Shitposting? I mean keep in mind /a/ really exaggerates the fuck out of it's popularity on account of the whole Kyoani vs. Shaft thing that is basically 50% of the boards posting nowadays. It's still fairly popular particularly among the loyalist Kyoani fan crowd and generally well liked but definitely not a smash hit like Love Live, Girls und Panzer, Your Name or anything like that. It's first season and movies average of about 6-9K is right in there with what you could expect out of an upper middle ground seasonal hit like a Re:Zero or a Jojo's installment. It's usually when something gets above 10K that people really start tossing out the word hit and producers start getting into discussions about franchising and cross media stuff. I don't even think Hibike Euphonium got a video game adaptation so yeah.
