The さ at the end can have various nuances and meaning depending on the context. If you mean that translating it as "I promise I'll survive" or something is wrong then it's not, it's in my opinion a valid translation.

You can't translate Japanese to English 1 for 1, a good translator isn't someone who tries to do that (like Crunchyroll or Funimation often do - although they've gotten better at this). It's someone who understands the nuances and context and displays it in an interesting and compelling way to their audience.

I'm fed up of not having any sense of belonging in Japan. I'm here on a year-long research project before returning to my university in America where I'll complete my PhD. But I prefer living in Japan, I don't want to have to leave to go and finish a PhD I don't care about. I've already lived in Japan two years, my Japanese is N2 and getting better every day, I know Japan has a lot of problems, but on balance I still prefer living here and I want to feel like this is home, not like I'm some temporary visitor. Definitely. You don't have to watch them all at once.
Like Tae Kim, et al., they cover a decent amount of introductory concepts in a relatively short amount of time and do it in a manner that introduces both spoken and written aspects of Japanese with graphics for a different sensory approach.
For those who find it easier to appreciate concepts when they are explained with imagery, the series can be really useful to fill in gaps that they may run into reading through something like Tae Kim's grammar guide or Japanese: The Manga Way.

It's not really learning like a child. Children don't learn 30 words a day through anki (maybe at their peak they pick up 30 words a day, but consider that is from being immersed all day in the language). And immersion is absolutely the best way to go IF you can find material right at your level. Which can, of course, be difficult.

The problem with lecture style is that they talk too slow. If it is in Japanese, and if you actually have 90% comprehension, then you are training multiple skills at once so it is objectively better.

Different person here. There isn't anything I've seen from 日本語の森 that you couldn't just lookup on your own. If you're concerned about purely learning some grammar concepts, any kind of J-J dictionary will tell you exactly what you need to know. On the other hand, if you want a steady pace with some listening and things explained in more of a visual way (since they do occasionally act out the examples), then go right ahead.

It's like the same behind using a J-E or J-J dictionary. You don't need to look up 熊 in J-J when it'll give you the description of the animal, but something like 収める would be better explained with J-J through the concrete examples that they provide for every definition.

I place emphasis on polite language and not casual language cause I want to practice and familiarize myself with the proper particle usage, whereas in casual language all particles are tended to be dropped which makes for a non-ideal practice.
