I don't really agree with Annie's whole point in that debate with Marlow shortly before she is revealed as the Female Titan. Marlowe's point wasn't to dehumanized the corrupt but to build a better society. Annie is too quick to set the bar low. So what if the MP has some corrupt people? What of the good people inside the wall, like Erwin or Hannes? She shouldn't be so quick to assume humanity's natural state is malice or selfishness.
But I also realize that Marlow would never bring up that point because he's so focused on cleaning up and changing society, he wouldn't be interested in defending current society because he'd perceive it as defending a rotten status quo

So it's one of those rare moments where I think the wrong side won the argument, but they only ever could've won the argument
