People seem to forget that Sasuke was loved by his classmates because they were just children who thought he was cool. Teachers (mostly young Chunin like Iruka) found him to be very skilled, but never mentioned it was because he was an Uchiha.
Kakashi didn't believe the stigma that the Uchiha were evil; his best friend when he was a child was an Uchiha who sacrificed himself and gave Kakashi his most sacred possession. He also had Itachi as his squad mate while in the Anbu, who was exceptionally skilled and kind.
Outside of the main cast, the higher-ups (aside from the Hokages) always despised the Uchiha and ordinary citizens feared them after the Nine Tails event. Sure, some villagers felt sorry for Sasuke, but would you really like going around seeing nothing but pitying faces? And that doesn't mean all of them did. Rumors probably did go around about Sasuke and the Uchiha as well.

It take Jiraya to deal with a seal like the one on Naruto. Kakashi don't even realize there is problem with it. Demons leaking is apparently pretty normal when you have a nuclear weapon inside your body. Also the fox don't suppress naruto's natural chakra or weaken his body, unlike the cursed seal.
