2hrs until sakuga of the season.
Yuri is confirmed for production disaster and Hibike has lower quality than last season most likely because of Koe no Katachi. That said I don't think flop floppers will actually be Sakuga show of the season.
If the staff is anything to go by Flip Flappers could easily be a new Space Dandy. While Yuri's first episode was very well done there is literally no way they can keep that up, there will most likely be a lot of throwaway SoL episodes with barely anything noteworthy going on. Ufo looks mainly great because of the cinematography than actual animation. Sure it's well done, but aside from the very subdued and beautiful chara animation and instruments it's nothing that's outstanding.
Oshiyama is directing it. The guy whose name I can't remember right now that did most of the animation on Mob, Shinekai Yori, Death Parade, and a lot of very impressive scenes in Kimi no Uso is doing lead animation. Studio Pablo is painting the backgrounds. Toshiyuki Inoue and Kenichi Yoshida are heavily involved with the first episode and a fuckton of prestigious animators are constantly talking about it. Mitsu Iso is working on it too in some capacity.
Perhaps, but a good premise can only take you so far. People are circlejerking about the animators involved but everyone forgets the director being a newbie, also the scriptwriter is apparently the one who worked on Kiniro Mosaic, which in my opinion is one of the worst and most generic girl SoLs of the past few years.
KinMoza was shit because of the director and the slow pace. Wakaba Girl despite having the same mangaka had a different director and it was much better, although the short episodes helped.
If you didn't like this episode why are you even watching anime?
This has literally everything the medium has going for it on steroids.
>Also yuritrash of the season
It's a yuri/yaoi season
Hetshit in Winter
Probably takes my favourite first episode of the season, loved the artstyle, animation, characters, fast pace and that kind of feeling like anything could happen with the weird crazy girl showing up and disrupting a normal life.
>GIRL MEETS GIRL
Girl meets girl?
Happens all the time, especially in this medium. Have a relatable boring MC and introduce this exotic, out of the world, character who will disrupt their way of living. Usually seen in harems.
Is she okay?
Top slides really remind me of those European fairy-tale illustrations.
Hopefully it will be just fun.
I think it's a Hansel und Gretel reference. You see candy house, Kokona being a servant and the fire oven. Also outfits.
Because it's airing on prime channel AT-X, which dedicated for otaku.
It's much CHEAPER than buying same slot on Tokyo-MX. It will air in mainstream channel in the late night
So your argument is invalid.
yeah, in the late night. That's what I said it will air in mainstream channel later.
It's impossible to buy slot at 21:00 PM at mainstream channel without having fuckton of budget and backup from big producers.
10 pm is late night? I thought late night as in late night anime was after the 24:00.
The pre-screening of the first 3 episodes of FliFla showed no signs of production collapse. On the other hand, people mentioned that they could see that episode 3 of Yuri on Ice was fucked up and incomplete in the pre-screening.
In 20 minutes.
Kabaneri look much better than this though, seemed a lot more ambitious in general, Flip Flappers going for a more simpler look will help it in the long run, I doubt the quality will keep up completely and we'll see all those fine details we saw this episode towards the end but I don't see it getting too bad.
Flip flopper or flop flapper?
>not knowing Takkyu
Smells like yuri.
The music is pretty good too.
Is this foreshadowing something dark happening in the show, having that kind of icky brain seemed somewhat out of place, or was it just a gag based on that?
Alright, to be honest it was way less impressive with subs than what I expected after the stream. The dialogue was so shallow you didn't really need to know what they were saying.
Also, I understand that they were trying to highlight the whimsical fairy tale atmosphere and the story isn't that important but I think the scene transitions felt too disjointed for their own good. The animation was great but by itself it's not "great enough" to sustain a whole fucking show.
3 ep rule it is, but if I drop it I'll probably check the threads for webms so I have nothing to lose here.
Fun, pure fun. Had a huge smile on my face for the most part except for when shit got kinda gloomy or something. I'm hoping the it stays lighthearted which I think it will. Seems like the threads will be a bit difficult to enjoy though, I won't let that ruin the show for me though.
Fucking this, I think I saw him in another show this season, but I might be wrong.
Stalker / stalked dynamic sounds good, not what I'd have guessed. Do you think it'll be like a one alternate world per episode kinda structure?
Nothing else so far has been any good this year. Best thing I've seen is Eupho's first episode, but as far as tv goes this one seems really promising.
I liked that they took time in the episode for Cocona and Papika to, y'know, hang out. Play in the snow and build a fort. Instead of just "crazy things are happening to the MC and we won't explain any of it: the episode!".
So it had a good balance of teasing the overall plot while introducing us properly to the main characters. I think it was actually quite a good 1st episode.
Most anime flub their middles and ends though, so who knows if it'll keep being good.
Not him but AOTY posting always causes anime war and shitposting and you can't even know what will be the AOTS unless you've seen the upcoming first episodes of other series and finished the series you claim to be the best. Most anime have a good start and turn to shit half way through or have open/bad endings while other series become better after a while.
It really had to take that time to build somewhat of a relationship between the two girls first because otherwise there would be no real reason for Papika to risk her life for some random girls glasses regardless of how insane she is.
I thought so based on the way after they saw it their faces changed and then they just closed the lid immediately and were like "nope, not a clue" and then a few seconds later he is working again.
>Do you think it'll be like a one alternate world per episode kinda structure?
Maybe first few will be like a monster of the week but judging by the pre-screening it seems that there's a cliff-hanger in the fourth episode.
>there would be no real reason for Papika to risk her life for some random girls glasses regardless of how insane she is
Maybe they won't die because it's pure illusion.
Exactly, and even though that should be the bare minimum for storytelling, most other anime wouldn't do that shit.
So it's good at a base level for now. "Promising" is the word I'd use. We'll see if it delivers.
Did this forest and the monsters remind anyone else of Nausicaa?
Was it rape?
Yeah really all you can say story wise at this point is nothing was wrong with it and it achieved what it set out to fairly well. It was fun and entertaining. The episode was over in no time. Not one of those shows where you move your mouse to see how long is left because it feels like ages has passed but one of those shows where you are like, "wait that is it finished? I thought it had another 5 minutes at least".
I don't get where she touched her.
The backgrounds were very nice. Actual design at work instead of just photoshop filters.
My favourite was the fishing episode. I think there were probably a few others I liked more than that one too, but I'd have to look at an episode list.
I love Studio Pablo so much.
>Show starts at night time
>80% of the OP is full of dark colors
>half of the ED has dark fairy tale allegories
Please don't turn into yet another grimderp Madoka ripoff.
I can't wait for her to go into Berserk mode.
Is Papika okay?
What's with all the bare feet in this show?
I just wanted the conversations to be a bit lengthier that just "Wow! Cocona! Pretty! Adventure!" Honestly I'm not asking for too much plot-wise so that's a minor complaint, but it did help make the episode feel a lot more disjointed.
The first ep is just meant to be a fun adventure that hopefully gets us a little interested in watching the rest of the show. There were a ton of future plot points hinted at, so I'm thinking they'll cover those eventually.
Honestly if there had been some deep conversation right at the first episode it might have turned me off.
For now just enjoy the ride anon, and pray they don't fuck it up.
It's the first fucking episode.
It did a good job introducing the characters, building a premise, and set the story in motion. That was really all it needs to do. Do you expect some serious info dumps full of twists and turns right at the start or something?
So much energy in this bit of animation. Captures her character well.
I hope they just travel to different world for shits and giggles with maybe a small overarching plotline to set up a really big fight at the end.
Something like Space Dandy but less of a clusterfuck because each episode differed greatly from one another due to it being a animator/director exhibition.
Love it to bits.
What is this expression trying to convey?
>It is not well-animated
I would have liked these designs, but the way the boot/sock on one leg just fades away at the end is a real eyesore.
It looks weird, but I think I like it.
also this one needs sound:
This show is cool
Would you endure this for some random girl's glasses?
Me? Probably not. Crazy girl who seems to be made to have to stay inside by lab people and has kind of made a friend who she seems to be on the verge of in love with? Quite possibly.
I would endure anything for Mao-chan!
Cocona got kidnapped by KKK robots in the preview.
I have a feeling that this show might actually get more grimdark as it progresses actually. We already know they have no problem showing small amounts of blood.
Why is she blushing?
I think he might be doing the autism thing and trying to figure out how she kept going forward and moved to the left whilst under the snow and came out travelling backwards while maintaining momentum. Rather than just accepting that it is the power of ganbatte and outflows of autismic joy.
When people say that I think they are usually talking about shows that have this kind of exciting, fast paced, anything could happen kind of atmosphere because I have seen this said of many shows with that same kind of energy. The only other real similarity in terms of anything else with FLCL is having a crazy female character come in and disrupt the MCs nomral depressing dull life but that is in so many other shows as pointed out previously.
Seems like their standard uniforms. Twins wear it too I think.
I want to sleep with Cocona.
So is Papika going to be Cocona's manic pixie dream girl?
She already is.
I wonder if all the previous partner candidate died. And if they're dead, I wonder how Cocona's gonna react when she finds out. Papika's faction might not be the good guys of the story.
I know it's adorable.
don't you dare criticize the masterpiece that is flcl
I have seen a fair bit of anime but that is beside the point.
it is obvious that whoever made this is trying to reap off the popularity of flcl.
They don't care about Regalia either. Fuck tasteless nippgers, two weren't enough.
I honestly can't tell if he's baiting or not.
Plebs and casuals really like FLCL because its the first "weird" anime they caught when watching Toonami or something. It's not out of the question that someone that retarded might have found their way here.
