I'm not too worried. Like you said, it feels like MAPPA is giving it enough TLC so they must know they have something special if they keep it together. Well, if you read the spoilers he ended up hurting Russian Fairy because he left him without warning to go and train another guy in Japan while he promised Fairy to train him for the senior competition. It doesn't help he makes both Yuris complete against each other and the winner gets to be his kohai. Of course Fairy's lose will hopefully lead to some character development and we might also see why Viktor had to leave like that to go and train Yuuri, which is most likely related to his ice skating career.

The ED with all the different characters seems intriguing. I hate when people post about "hurr durr all anime are in high school and we need more adults," but it really will be refreshing to see these adult personalities and their interactions. I hope they do act more like adults and aren't just physical adults but are copy and paste high school characters.

It's a pretty clear case of forced drama so they have some sort of connection/rivalry from the start. I think they should've had it happen after Yuuri and Victor start working together, then it would make sense if Yurio had a grudge against him. Maybe Victor said something behind the scenes to make him jelly of Yuuri to begin with, that would make more sense than just being mad over another athlete failing (usually that would mean your chances are better, and people who can't hack the competition will drop out anyway).
