Chapter 86 spoilers are OUT! Summary below,
- This is the childhood of Grisha and his younger sister Fay (Faye?)
- In their town there are blimps, steamboats, even some planes flying overhead - the culture is similar to that of the Turn A Gundam series
- The two of them escaped from confines (Maybe something like a ghetto) but were discovered by soldiers. Fay is taken away and killed
- Ymir’s people, who wield the Titan power, were victorious in the war
- Grisha was 18 when he found out that his sister had been eaten
- (The grammar of this part is a little confusing) In order to revive “Elodia,” in order to resurrect the ancient (Original) Titan, to defeat “Mali”
- Grisha married “Donna” and had Zeke. When Zeke was 7, he went to the government and exposed Grisha and Donna (For doing what is not clear)
- Elodia was sent to the island of “Balati,” which is the base of the Titans.
So given that Eren has the coordinate, the conflict can be ended by him refusing to use it to fight against the Mares.
Do the Mares want to genocide the Elidan or just peace? Because peace is easy.
What did he mean by this?
Then they should have said warriors to assassinate the Reiss's and Fritz's and free the people from being opressed from titans instead of trying to genocide an entire people who dindu nothing. Now humanity has a reason to unleash their titan horde.
Pretty sure the Mares are dicks and their plan is to exterminate the Elodians after stealing what's left of their Titan powers, basically a vicious circle of one group getting all the neat powers, shitting up the other group, and then losing their advantage in the conflict.
You think the Marens will let the Eldians leave Paradise if they promised not to use the Coordinate. I don't. I think the Marens hate the Eldians so much that Eren will be forced to fight them. Mare doesn't want peace.
you guys are great, as soon as something comes off as jewlike it's automatically the enemy.
So to summarize things
>Ymir Fritz made a pact with the devil and was given the titan's power
>Ymir ruled over the lands, oppressing everyone but Ymir's people who are called the Eldians. Even going as far as seeing them as inferior races
>the titan power was distributed to 9 main titans who would rule the lands ruthlessly
>This went on for 1700 years until a group of oppressed people rebelled and stole 7 out of the 9 titan powers and then named themselvws The Mares
>The defeated Ymir's people Fritz and Reiss escaped to an island called Paradi where they constructed a wall to protect their people and to use as a weapon for an eventuak attack by The Mares
>Some Eldians were left behind in Mares territory
>With Grisha they tried to revolt against the Mares goverment but were betrayed by Grisha's own son, Zeke
>The rebels were exiled to Eldian land and turned into titans
Zeke is half Fritz and a high ranking official, Annie is a Eldian, both hold the most precious thing Mare have. The Eldians on Mare live with very comfort as said by Grisha. Do you think this pic is someone who is opressed and persecuted? They're not hated at all.
In regards to the titan's lines, how do the wall titans and the mule titan fit in. Is it just that the 'main' 9 (now 8) are the most powerful, and the rest are just people who took the serum. It would make sense, as Bertholt is a fair bit bigger then the wall, and so the wall titans. Does this mean that anyone can become a titan, and the titans of BRA, M(Y), E, Z and previously the first king line are simply the most powerful of each type, like a machine gun to a pistol.
I just finished the manga after watching the anime. Why does SnK get a bad rap? The anime is probably a little less realist and a little more edgy than the manga but not by very much. I found it pretty enjoyable and aside from a little plot armour there weren't too many things that made me think 'this is dumb as fuck'. A notable exception was Eren rescuing Misaka when they were 9, but that has almost no bearing on the story so I haven't dwelt on it too much.
So why is it that SnK gets so much hate? Is it the gore and violence? Because plenty of other series have gratuitous violence. Is it the edge? Given the setting I feel it's kept at a pretty respectable level. Some pieces of the plot are a little far fetched but they're still well within the limits of my disbelief, nor are there all that many asspulls. I was expecting some pretty shounen-tier shit when I started SnK, but I've been pleasantly surprised with a story that has fallible characters and real consequences.
It must be the popularity then. I cannot think of any other reason it would garner so much ire.
They didn't? You can see with the passage of years armbands aren't used anymore.
In retrospect Grisha should have known not to trust him
It doesn't seem like shifter powers are unique or passed down. Except for the coordinate, which is stated to be passed down
Hardening was used by Annie, Eren and Reiner. Annie even used something like the coordinate to call titans to her. Armin does not resemble the colossal titan in any way.
So how do the Ackermans fit into this? They're a DIFFERENT magical bloodline?
Why was King Fritz considered a false king if his line was one of the main bloodlines?
I'm so fucking confused, guys.
They said that different races weren't affected by the Reiss' mind control which mean the Ackermans are possibly Mares as well.
The Fritz are the rulers. The Reissare the leaders. They are both kings.
I think Ackermen are like Touyou and are a different race entirely.
Who knows what role they'll ultimately play, but for now they're a deus ex machina whenever the story calls for crazy strength.
Popularity and the pains that come with it (normies, autists, whales), some shit writing, a lot of shit pacing, Eren is a terrible main character, the initial portions made it really edgy and grimdark, the Erengelion, Hange, Annie actually being forgotten. And the whole changing the story after it got popular.
Aren't the current warriors actually Ymir's people and not the Edlians? Because BR were talking like the coordinate once belonged to them and it was stolen from them. I think some spoilers also mentioned all the titan powers were stolen from Ymir Fritz, but Ymir's people managed to get almost all of them back.
Fritzs and Reisses were meant to be together
I really hope Annie wakes up soon. I want to see her reaction to learning about everything that has happened.
>imouto getting mauled alive by dogs
I can't fucking take this
Who would have thought Ymir and Hissu were the real bad guys?
Nah they will probably be involved in the peace talks what with the two of them having no interest in oppressing kesser races.
>yfw the 9th titan line
is the Ackermanns who are considered to be honorary titans even though being unable to shift because they are so strong that they can fight shifters on even footing
>They never said anything about the coordinate belonging to them.
Reiner said they have to get it back.
The titans that comprise the Eldian refugee colony's "walls" that the Mare are shitting their pants over potentially being activated and used to obliterate them by the Coordinate are extremely old. Like, hundreds if not thousands of years old, yet they can be "awoken" at any time. Thus, titans are, effectively, immortal/unaffected by aging.
This is borne out by the fact that Ymir is (at least) 70-something years old, having not aged a day during her time as a mindless titan.
It's not only possible, but likely, that Ymir Fritz and the Ymir we know are literally the exact same person. She probably didn't spend a mere 60 years that way, but over 1700. She "died for the happiness of a great many people"- did she impose her own mindless fate upon herself somehow out of guilt over the Eldian oppression of the Mare or did they capture her at the conclusion of the uprising and do that to her?
Just because they never mentioned it doesnt mean that they didnt know. There needs to be some sort of connection her because the Ackermanns sure as hell are neither shifters nor are they normal humans so I'd be surprised if they werent directly connected to the titan lines.
I don't think they have anything to do titans per se, but their common ancestor was definitely special. Either he/she was experimented on, or if Isayama wants to go that route, a recipient of actual magical norse powers.
Walls were 100 years ago, Ymir was 70 years ago.
I don't think Ymir was ever in Mare territory. I think she was born and raised inside the walls, and became a mindless titan because the nobility hated her for being a bastard.
All Eldians are people of Ymir. Ymir just was just a random girl who got this name from her cultist parents because she was chosen to hold Ymir's power. Then turned into a titan. That blonde titan could as well be her dad.
Probably gonna be the bloodline that is supposed to establish balance or something like that. The bloodline that can fight titans no matter what side they are on. Then again, Mikasa also said that her family was basically banished. So they were probably banished from the land of the Mares because they supported the Elodia or something.
The Eldian resistance is being aided by a group called the "owls", betrayers of the Mare government. They provide money, weapons and books to the eldians, and while they have never been seen by the resistance they guide them.
King Fritz left the "original titan" inside the walls. It can control other titans. The inheritance of the "original titan" started with the 145 generation of the king. He divided the 8 titans but the war just went on forever.
The royal family "displayed" the original titan and that mantained balance between the eldians. But the 145 generation abandoned that role and moved the city towards a remote island.
Both the Mare and the eldians want to raid the island in order to obtain the original titan.
Yeah except the titan thought Ilse was THE Ymir we know because of the black hair and freckles. What are the chances there's an Ymir Fritz with black hair and freckles that isn't the Ymir we know?
Yes but why did he do so. There must be a reason why the Reiss family suddenly felt the urge to systematically eradicate the Ackermanns. Doubt they woke up one day and were like "you know what just shank them". Most likely explanation is that they were a threat.
Ymir doesn't look like any other titan. Like any of the titans wandering outside the walls and those titans are created by the Mares. I think Ymir got the serum of the first king Fritz and somehow ended up mindless.
Touyou and Ackermen must have supported King Reiss at first, they were one of the central royal houses. But for some reason they rebelled. They must have learned the secret behind everything.
If the manga doesn't end with titan Eren going on a rampage and killing everyone and then getting his ass kicked by Levi I'll be disappointed. Assuming Levi's still alive by that point, of course.
My theory is that Armin and Eren will both die and Mikasa won't be able to live with herself after that so she kills herself, or gets Eren to eat her.
Either way, Armin's a dead man.
They mention the power of the seven titans might not be enough to rule the world in the future, that's why the mare are increasing their power with military weapons but for that they need fossil fuel.
In 50 years they could have fucking nukes. So they better fix this problem now otherwise the eldians will just get curb stomped
I'm with you that EAr will both die, probably protecting each other and/or Mikasa, but Mikasa killing herself doesn't make any sense. We've already seen she can go on her own after Eren died, and that was almost immediately after she learned the news.
I think all titan shifters will end up dead including Eren, yeah. He'll probably be the last one to go though, being the protagonist and all that.
Also, any ETA on when we'll get translations? I only started reading the manga after the last chapter came out so I have no fucking clue as to what the release schedule is like. Fuck monthly magazines, man.
Long ago, a woman named Ymir Fritz (it is not certain whether this is the first king, our Ymir, or someone else entirely) made a deal with the devil. From this deal, Titans were created and they conquered the land in the name of Ymir’s people. They formed a nation known as Elodia, and they ruled mercilessly.
Of the titans, there were 9 “main” ones. These are assumed to be the titan shifters. The coordinate/the first king is the most powerful of these 9.
Insurgents comprised of the persecuted races of Elodia (everyone but Ymir’s people) rose up and started a revolution, in which they stole 7 of the 9 shifters. They backed the Elodian government into a corner. This corner was an island called Paradi, and often referred to as Paradise. It is here where the Coordinate erected the 3 walls to protect the Elodian people. The revolutionaries instituted a new nation known as Mare.
The Elodians (Ymir’s people) who remained in Mare were persecuted. There are a LOT of parallels to Nazi Germany and the Jews. An Elodian named Grisha Jaeger (Eren’s dad), after his sister was taken from his family by police, decided to join a revolution of Elodians who wanted to overthrow the government. In this revolution he met his wife, Donna Fritz, who had royal blood.
Their son, Zeke (He later becomes The Beast Titan), was supposed to join the military and bring them information. However, at the tender age of seven, he turned in his parents and the rest of the revolution to the police.
Grisha and the revolutionaries were then sent to Paradise, outside the walls, where they were turned into Titans and forced to siege the Elodian people they share a lineage with.
Many of these revolutionaries are implied to be many of the titans that invaded Trost, as can be seen in pic related
I want Eren to kill the world
A Fritz is still the king inside the walls whike the Reiss kept to themselves in the shadows. Rod's story does sound fishy since he called a Reiss the first king when in truth he wasn't the first king at all. It could be due to ignorance.
I dunno. She had to put her emotions aside at the time because titans. If there were no more titans left, and no more Eren, I'm not sure if she could be able to handle it, especially if Armin also dies.
I just think they'll go as a trio or they'll all survive, personally.
Because Mikasa is one of two characters foreshadowed to have children, so we know by default she will most likely live. And Levi is heavily foreshadowed to be a religious figure, he has to do something extraordinary and be able to pass the word down to future generations.
That was expalined by Daina this chapter. The First King is the 145th king Fritz who made the wall and another lineage starting from him. The Reisses. The King Fritz is used to fool Maren.
You're right, they are. That solidifies the parallels between them. That still doesn't dispute the fact they're the only two characters with parental foreshadowing.
And that doesn't matter, Kenny was still the parent who raised Levi. Isayama even said it.
So, the "original titan" is that the coordinate or do they have the corpse of Ymir Fritz there? i mean, with millions of colossal titans they could wipe out the mare before Fritz when into Paradi island.
He's 15, he's had his life fucked up completely. I can't see him suddenly going "okay titans aren't all bad I'll spare these ones". He's killed/fought many of the titan shifters knowing what they've done, I doubt he gives a fuck about what they think.
If anyone, Levi and perhaps maybe Hange. Some of the younger characters too, like Jean, unless they're all killed off in the final battle. For some reason I see pretty much everyone dying.
Reiner's also talked about marrying Historia, does that mean that's gonna happen?
After all Mikasa's been through with family somehow I can't see her wanting her own, but whatever.
He has matured and he said killing them is something he has to do. Eren definitely is going to die because he is in the middle of this war but not all the shifters are in the same position, especially Armin. This war will have no end.
So in this panel the Reiss weren't gathering for a mind swipe but were actually about to launch a Counter attack on the mar people outside the walls? Ghrisha has a change of heart and doesn't want to see the outside world devastated so stops them?
Do you think there will be a final battle like in Naruto or another cliché shonen? We don't even know what Eren is going to do but knowing him, he would probably want answers from the other side. He is going to die but we can't assume all shifters share the same destiny.
Nah, Levi's cursed to live on while all his friends and family die around him. I can't see him dying, unless he gets killed by whoever the last surviving non-Eren shifter is and then that causes titan!Eren to rampage, or something.
Of course, these are just theories and such. Who the fuck knows where Isayama's even going with this at this point, lol. Maybe everyone will end up being revived in some retcon and they'll all live happily ever after and everyone will have children and titans will no longer exist.
So the proper nouns introduced in this chapter were
But just like ユミル・フリッツ isn't actually "Yumiru Furittsu" but rather "Ymir Fritz", and ジーク isn't "Jīku" but rather "Zeke", these names are just Japanese transliterations of already existing proper nouns. The question is what those proper nouns are.
フェイ (Fei) is most likely Faye, a feminine name derived from the Middle English word "faie" (fairy). It's possible that it's Fay (unisex) or even Fae, but the first is the most likely.
マーレ (Māre) can be Marle or Mare
パラディ (Paradi) can be Palade (which seems to be European in origin), or Paradis (French for paradise)
I have no idea what エルディア (Erudia; probably Eldia) references. Could be Norse or something.
It's 50/50 for me. It does seem like a trend that Levi is cursed with his powers and continues to live on, while he does have a hero complex and feels tethered to his strength, he might feel like it's his duty to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Who knows.
But see, I can't see any of the titan shifters wanting to survive, since the world will probably be even more of a hell than it already is by the time the final battle rolls around. Ymir will probably have to fight Historia, Armin will go up against Annie, and Eren will finally kill Reiner. The beast titan is.... a completely different story and I don't know what will happen with him.
Again, you're overestimating this manga. They're not all going to suddenly sit down and work things out over a cup of tea an then act like nothing ever happened. It's a war. Wars have, y'know, battles. Eren at least won't want to settle this with fucking politics.
He wanted him back because there's a little part of his self that doesn't want to carry with all the responsibility of being the "savior of humanity". Levi also put that burden onto his shoulders.
I dunno, maybe Historia will think Ymir's bloodline is evil or something like that. I have no real idea, it's just a theory.
Either they fight, or Ymir dies trying to protect Historia in battle because Historia goes "fuck all of you I'm fighting too motherfuckers" and gets in over her head.
>I dunno, maybe Historia will think Ymir's bloodline is evil or something like that.
Especially Historia should know, descendants shouldn't be blamed for what their ancestors did.
But what if Ymir is the same Ymir? I realise I'm really stretching at this point, I don't think they're going to actually turn against each other but more be in a situation where they're on different sides or something. I doubt they'd ever actually want to fight each other.
yeah I cant see how the walled people will beat the Mare, considering they lost in the past even with their colossal titan army. The Mare will just bomb the hell out of them. The flashback scans showed zepplins and biplanes, so their tech level is probably WW2 level now.
Erwin was the negotiator character though, so I dunno how influential Hange will be. They'll try to come up with something, but I don't know if they'll succeed. Hange might know more about the titans than most people, but they've still overlooked things in the past, I'm sure.
Unlikely, but I think Ymir was supposed to inherit the first Ymir's will, just like everyone from the Reiss family will be controlled by the first wall King will, but she refused.
>there aren't bad sides
They're both bad sides.
>and a final battle sounds so stupid
It's a fucking war you retard. And if they're going to try and end the war, it'll be through a battle of finalizing proportions.
>mfw 150 ft tall anime monsters are no match for glorious air force
Erwin didn't know the truth, he couldn't confirm anything. If he was alive, he would try to negotiate or come up with a plan but now it's Hange's turn (and Armin).
Maybe she will tell Eren to infiltrate the Mare.
It's just my assumption, because some spoilers mentioned souls that will never die or something like that, which reminded me of the Reiss family being controlled by the first wall king.
I didn't say he made good but that's a way to break the wheel.
Not this time. What I am saying is that maybe Hange will agree with Eren to go to the warrior village.
Wait so what's going on in this panel? This isn't Grisha's sister, Grisha is being told this story in the book that is being ready to him while he is in custody for trying to escape with his little DARK HAIRED sister not the white blondie making the deal with whatever that is there
Erwin had a lot more influence than Hange does, what with him being the commander and all. IIRC Hange's the new commander, but since they have yet to prove themselves, it might be harder for the higher-ups to trust them.
Erwin was the one who did all the deals, all I'm saying is that the big wigs are going to be wary of any new person and probably wary of the group in general.
That storybook could be from beyond the walls as well. That storybook could potentially just be more evidence that she is from somewhere beyond the walls. Most believe that it represents one of Historia's ancestors trading with one of Ymir's (Could possibly be Ymir herself). What's being traded is an apple, which many believe represents the coordinate power. That book is number 2 on my list of things I want brought back into focus.
If you're asking for a general idea of where she is from. Outside the walls seems to be the most likely possibility. She knows about who the true enemy is. She knows about RB's group and that they aren't the "true enemy." A titan outside the walls knows who she is and has some deep respect for her (and her people). Something curious to note is that we never see Ymir near titans from outside the walls. The only titans we ever see her get up close to are the ones from Connie's village. Can't help but wonder if that was intentional on Isayama's part and just how many titans outside the walls would show the same kind of reverence to Ymir that the Ilse titan did. Also, she is familiar with herring, an ocean fish.
Everything we know about her so far points to her being from a group beyond the walls. Could have been RBA's group, could be another group entirely.
So is Ymir royalty or not royalty? Trying to figure out if I should be celebrating a theory being right.
I'm seeing people say Ymir Fritz. And that that person is revered by one of the groups as a leader/king and they essentially had the coordinate at first.
Also if your list is referring to the groups given titan powers. Is it possible that Fritz and the First King are the same person? From the translations I'm getting that Ymir Fritz had the Original Titan Power (coordinate).
I get the feeling that the current Fritz inside the walls isn't really a Fritz at all. If we're to consider that Ymir Fritz and the First King were the same person. Then that mean the last known Fritz died giving the Reiss family the coordinate power.
If she's related to the Fritz family, it's possible that she would still know more than the tales Grisha was told.
I think I am right. The guidebook kind of confirms that Eren is a selfish person and he depends on Armin's decisions. That's why he did nothing when he sacrificed his life, Eren only obeyed him. Of course Armin is his best friend but this is also a fact.
This is what I'm wondering too. Why wait so long if they were such a threat to them? And they act like getting the coordinate is so crucial but they didn't seem to care about it all this time.
True, but they did destroy an entire town in the process.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but in the end this is an action manga. Battles will be had, especially final battles, and it won't all come down to politics and table discussions.
I know that Eren relies on Armin's decisions, as do other members of the SC. But that doesn't mean that Eren's motive for saving him was because he didn't want the burden of being humanity's only savior, I really doubt that thought even crossed his mind at that time. His thought process was more like, holy shit, Armin is dying, I can't let that happen so I'll say anything to convince Levi. I doubt he had his own burdens in mind. Though I suppose wanting to save your friend over your commander can be seen as "selfish" to some.
I am actually making emphasis on this page (and the previous one) and why Eren said Armin is the saviour and not him.
I took this to mean that Eren was a. trying to convince Levi to give Armin the serum through whatever methods of persuasion he had and b. really thinks that Armin's strategist abilities are essential and his ability to be sustained by his dreams to be admirable and special. That's how Eren sees it, in my opinion.
Yeah, you and many others think in that way but I think there's something else behind and here comes what I previously said. I like to think that not everything is friendship but a little of arrogance. Not only in Eren but in Armin as well when he sacrificed himself.
Armin doesn't see himself as particularly brave, and lol he didn't sacrifice himself to prove that he was. He did it because he didn't have a choice, they were gonna die if nothing was done. It's fine to have interpretations but that scene doesn't support what you're saying.
Who caaaares about the politics of armin and all them, that's really what you guys are concerned with rather than trying to figure out what the actual origin of the titans and all are?? and Grisha's role and the walls and all??!!
Grisha is Hitler, that's basically it.
It could be fabricated slightly. Given how science-y the rest of the series has been to an extent it's kind of weird that "lol it was the devil" is the explanation. Hopefully there's some clarification.
Then again, Isayama is an expert troll.
How is wanting to be brave=arrogance? And while he has struggled with self worth issues in the past, and probably still does, he didn't do that in this instance. Otherwise we would've gotten some insight into his thoughts that suggested that these were his motives.
Gotta do something to kill time while waiting for translations. Basically everything that we know so far has already been talked about, so I don't wanna repeat what's been said.
Depends when the raws get leaked in full. No real point doing proper TL with an incomplete chapter.
On that topic, who does translations for the nip raws? I know fuku/mika does the chinese ones. I may be able to typeset the chapter.
It is not bad arrogance, we all have it even if we try to deny it. That's my appreciation of Armin, he wants to be useful so he would rather die than become a burden. He doesn't care if he hurts Mikasa and Eren, he wants to be useful.
Was trolling, bro.
The magazine officially comes out on the 8th (Japan time), so earliest is maybe tomorrow? From what I can find fan scanlations tend to be out on time more or less.
Hm, I do agree with you there, though I think you think of arrogance in broader terms than I do. I do think as well that pushing himself too hard to prove himself will concern EM in the future and may become a point of contention.
>post yfw Isayama's modern military manga is actually a sequel to SnK
Wow, what a shock. The /pol/ faggotry and the pathetic attempts to incite people against one character or another (currently Armin and Ymir) all just magically start around this time every single day! It couldn't possibly be that one retarded faggot is behind it all, could it?
You're shit at trolling threads, allahfaggot. It's patently obvious every single time you come in here- your reek is especially obvious at a time when everyone else is actively talking about the spoilers and all your legitimately stupid ass can talk about is falseflagging "yumikurries" and talking about how you wish you had the courage to finally go through with that MtF operation. Kindly stick your head into a blender.
Hange Mangele is the most obvious one yeah. Who's Goebbels, then?
Honestly the WWII parallels were kind of there for a while. They'd at least crossed my mind at some stage. Some of this shit, though? Isayama my man, please...
Eren's titan looks like his dad's. Seems fair to say Historia's would look like her sister's.
Armin doesn't really look anything like the joke page, with the exception that both are obviously Armin.
This is a Ymir Fritz. She is royalty and should be treated with the utmost respect.
Jean and Connie gave their approval to the cold blooded murder of their former comrade who was disabled and unconscious, they are horrible people and not the slightest bit innocent. They must pay for their war crimes with their lives
The Ackermans were almost wiped out because they disagreed with the royal family about humanity being stuck in the walls.
Does that mean the Ackermans wanted to go to war against Mare but the Reiss/Fritz wouldn't let them.
>Erwin will never get to know that he was right all along.
>Erwin will never tell Nile to suck a dick for being so wrong
>Erwin will never fly a plane
You guys think those planes have been flying far above the walls every now and then just to scout the enemy?
I don't think the Ackermans were part of the special titan bloodlines. Maybe they were enslaved Mares and didn't want to bow down to the Reiss family, therefore they tried to exterminate them.
COCONUT CT CONFIRMED
>EAr are the two most important humans inside the walls now that they possess 2 of the 9 titans
The friendship break-up Isayama was talking about is them siding with different sides of the war, isn't it?
When they get married they'll both be queens. The question is whether they'll use the last name Reiss or Fritz.
Going by that logic so is Historia and Eren almost wiped out everyone from the Reiss family. None of them are responsible for what their ancestors did. Historia even wants to atone for it and the snowy mountain flashback probably implies Ymir didn't want to follow in the footsteps of her cruel ancestors either.
Bert's words pretty much line up with the English translation. The words imply that they had it before, but now it's in Eren's hands, there's no sign of him saying it actually belongs to them.
It will be a very emotional moment with lots of angst and unrequited feelings of yuri love
Well, I guess this being referred to the Game of Thrones of anime makes more sense now, but for other reasons than before
Bu what does it all mean?
Theory: considering Ymir had to eat Reyner and Berthold's friend to acquire sentience as a titan, she is possibly a descendant or relative to the original Ymir.
She would need to live away from Mare due to the danger and away from the walls too for some reason (maybe to remain undiscovered)
So is does that make Mikasa the queen of Eldonia, since she is a royal Ackerman and very cute?
Ymir isn't a monarch. She has never been. She might be a Fritz, but Historia is the one and only Queen. She might've have been worshipped by some cultists for sometime, but that's it.
yes yes, an exotic beauty, very rare, very pure, very cute, Eren sure is a lucky guy.
If Eren lets out the CTs the Meran don't need to attack, the Eldian titans will do the job of whipping out the Eldians. While Mare actually is able to stop the CT attack since they're tough as fuck.
Didn't some spoilers mention the titan powers were stolen after Ymir Fritz died and her people managed to get most of them back? That was probably the coordinate that was still missing for example.
How did Isayama come up with the artistic genius to create Mikasa?
I wonder if the Asians really were all wiped out, or if there's more of them. This war seems to be a business between European factions.
I'm guessing that it's most likely that he just wanted to shoehorn in an Asian character in the story and that other races will remain irrelevant? Story would get pretty bloated otherwise.
Don't know, but the ones who call themselves the people of Ymir are the Eldians though. If the Eldians did stole it from the Merans then used it to enslave them for 2000 years, I lost the ability to comment on it.
What if Ymir's family branch are the actual monarchs? Ymir's family are the ones carrying the 7th titan power. They didn't renounce to their last name and it would explain why Ymir is worshipped like royalty.
since mikasa is half ackerman and half ASIAN, that makes her the only non-noble within the walls to be resistant to the Reiss mind-wiping ability, right? Is this plot point going to get developed further or can we just assume it's going to be dropped since the Reiss don't have the kings power anymore
I like how even after what Grisha has done, Zeke just instantly loves Eren. I hope this great guy manages to save his otoutou. Actually all of BRA just reach out their hands and call them brothers even after everything.
Levi counts too.
The only thing I could see is some kind of scenario where the Reiss get the power back and somehow everyone ends up forgetting about Eren except for Mikasa and Levi. But that's a real stretch. I think it'll be dropped.
Yeah, if anything was going to be introduced related to the Ackermans it would've been with Kenny.
I do think we'll find out exactly how Levi and Mikasa are related, though. Even if it doesn't matter in the end.
What seems weird to me is that Grisha seems to have planned that his diaries were found because he talks directly to the reader with them. Did he go back to Shiganshina after it fell and update the writing knowing he was going to send Eren to eventually read it?
since Zeke has royal blood, if he obtains the first king's power he can just mindwipe everyone
I bet in the final shonen showdown zeke somehow manages to get the first king's power without killing Eren
Wouldn't put it past him. He probably went back there before going and turning Eren into a titan.
And of course he planned to have them found. Otherwise why would he have given Eren the key?
This chapter is the bombshell everyone has been waiting for.
Cant believe how it masterfully answered 90% of open mysteries. I thought isayama was just bullshitting and keep on stacking mysteries that he will never properly reveal.
But he actually delivered - the madman
It opens heaps more questions up, though. And somehow I doubt this is the entire truth, I wouldn't be surprised it at least some of it turns out to be propaganda. I don't trust anyone in this series, especially not Grisha.
Basically, this is an ongoing struggle between the Erudia/Eludia Empire (Originally formed by Ymir Fritz bestowing Titan power to nine) and the "Marais" empire. After much conflict Marais regained power, but Grisha's parents and in turn Grisha joined the rebel movement called "Fukuro" (Probably after Fay died). They were fed history about the great lives people long ago led under Ymir Fritz/Erudia's rule (Perhaps faked history?), so Grisha always believed Erudia to be in the right. He eventually wanted to turn Zeke into a warrior for Marais and try to penetrate the establishment from the inside, but the plan backfired when young Zeke turned on his parents (Grisha and Dinah).
Also, the key to restoring Erudia is apparently acquiring the power of the "Ancient Titan" (Ymir Fritz), which seems to be the coordinate. Grisha believes that achieving this will finally overthrow the Marais. This part I think we had a strong idea about already, but there is the confirmation again.
If Eren did leave bits of Grisha's body lying around like that, would Grisha be able to use his titan powers to regenerate? I would've thought once the titan shifting powers were passed onto Eren, they'd be gone from all of Grisha's body.
But if Grisha somehow is still alive.... I wouldn't be that surprised.
He left at least one arm behind. What I really want to know is why he decided to give Eren the power instead of just fighting Mare himself.
