Percussion, and I was one of the only two people who could actually fucking read sheet music, so I got all the fucking mallet parts

Kumiko sounds the same to me. She's always had a wide range. When she's calm or annoyed she speaks in a low pitch, when she's happy or agitated she speaks in a high pitch. This happened in S1 too.

When I watched S1's OVA I also thought she sounded weird but that was just because it had been so long since I had last heard her. When I rewatched some episodes and then heard her in the OVA again, she sounded normal. This seems to be the case as well.

When the 4 of them are together it didn't really feel like they were all friends. Kumiko would speak to Katou & Midori, and then she would speak to Reina. The interactions between the other two and Reina basically amounted to half-hearted conversation making simply because they acknowledged that Reina was friends with Kumiko. When the two were on the train alone together, that's when their closeness really shined through as they chattered and laughed and teased, which they didn't even hint at in front of the others. Reminded me of some of my high school friendships to be honest. It's a nice touch

Surprised someone put that one together, that summary has some minor mistakes in that I'm done particularly happy with but I never got around to fixing them. And now we have a season 2 so I kind if think that its pointless to do.

So after watching episode 1 to see how the pacing was, and this scene at the start, I am pretty sure Kyoani is adapting both volumes 2 and 3 since Kumiko reading the notebook is the very last scene in the 3rd novel

The jumps in dates are pretty extreme with episodes 1 and 2 but the 2nd novel starts off pretty slow until the middle part.

The 2nd novel really only has 3 chapters
>Opening (Nozomi comes back, Firework date, Pool)
>Band Camp (longest and best part, has everything)
>Ending (Ribbons fixes everything, Kansai Tournament

So episode 2 finishes the pool episode and jumps a 1/3 into band camp. And unless Kyoani wants to spend like 4 episodes on a 3 day 2 night event, I think they can wrap up the 2nd novel by episode 6 or so leaving 7-13 for the 3rd novel. They probably wont make any full/largely original episodes this time around which'll save lots of time. Season 1 had at least 4 of those (Episode 1-2, Hazukis episode, Aoi's episode, Kumikos episode etc).

Or Kyoani can throw me off completely and start animating stuff about Azusa and her school since they run parallel to Hibike.

Mamiko's story concludes in the 3rd volume but they're laying it on heavy in the 2nd season already. It's actually a really nice story arc, I think it'll probably hit home for a lot of people Mamiko drops out of college due to the pressure and ends up being a hikkiNEET for a few weeks until Kumiko and her finally bury the hatchet.
