Shun was going to get injured regardless when Obelisk Force arrived. They wanted him out the show because they had nothing else for him to do. Kaito didn't steal Shun's screentime. Shun wasn't going to fight the Lancers in Academia. Shun already beat Dennis so that wasn't his duel. That should have been Asuka's duel. The moon guardian was a joke and it didn't really matter who dueled her but I doubt they were going to give Shun two duels back to back. Especially since they don't seem to be printing his cards anymore.

Shun has gotten less screen time because they had nothing else for him to do, they aren't printing Raidraptors much anymore and they needed Ruri to be able to run free without Shun hawking her down. To be honest they probably wanted to card him long ago but his popularity kept him alive.

I've heard that Nossan's schedule has been busy, so that may have something to do with it as well.

There are a few instances where Kaito's role in an episode seems like the script-writers just changed a few words and gave Kaito all of Shun's planned lines.

Spoilers are pretty nice. I like that Reiji is finally getting a duel against his dad but fuck where is Yusho? Why isn't Reira dueling as well? Then we have Yuya trying to stop Zarc from taking over him and Edo and Kaito intrude in Yugo's duel which is pretty dumb, would rather have 1v1. But I guess the direction of the show is a bit more clear now. I guess everyone's just trying to stop Zarc from coming back and Ray seems to be the only one who can do it. Next episode will still be crucial for putting all of these pieces together.

So far im hearing the show will end around March/April 2017. Normally the show runs for 4 seasons/4 years, so i'd have assumed it would last till 2018

The ratings didn't start to fall consistently until 92 which had no nostalgia characters. Crow's first appearance had an amazingly high rating. One of the best in the series. Arc-V started to do bad ratings wise because everything that was being built up wasn't being put to use. The popular characters like Shun didn't get much screentime. The nostalgia characters from GX which is the second most popular series got treated like shit with Edo having a completely different personality. You bring nostalgia characters in to celebrate them and their series. Arc-V only does that with 5Ds which just so happened to have the same head as this series. Crystal Wing is annoying as hell to get over and has easy requirements but Dark Requiem and Greedy Venom require shit that's in their own decks while Crystal Wing was made generic enough that you can throw that shit in pendulum magicians, DDDs and other decks without much issue.
