Teko is literally the worst character ever made. I liked everything else.

Teko got very, very tiring at points.

Just not as good as Aria, though to be fair, that goes for just about everything in the genre.

Still enjoyed it though.

Too much focus on Teko, by the end I just started to skip the parts that focused solely on her or her thoughts because they simply got annoying. She felt liker 5 years old trapped in 16 years old body.
Pikari was a little better, but good only for meme faces

I'd say the problem is the characters, a shame because I really like the animation and OST

Teko was relatable in the early stages of the anime, but it got a bit too much in episodes 9 and forward.

Other than that, the characters, the OST, and most of the other things was good.

Pikari makes me happy

Changing the order of things and having no scuba diving until the last episode.

I get what they were trying to do, but there was nothing wrong with the execution in the manga. Teko's first dive is not the culmination of her growth.

And, while the characters could be likeable, they all seemed to have a parody switch where they all turned nearly insufferably annoying. Most easily identified by googly eyed Pikari, triangle mouth Teko, and cat mouth Ai.

Pikari with her autism, Teko with her teenage angst, and Ai with her domineering.

It was like a shock paddle to the face when they switched out of their normal human being mode to being loony toons.

Too much exaggerated drama,specially during that episode about the photos, instead of relaxing slice of life like in Aria.

I was hyped for Amanchu ever since its greenlit teaser last October, exactly one year ago. I thought it was the anime that I have been waiting for, and the first 3 episodes really sold it. Then it starts getting dull when it introduced the siblings and took out the scuba diving parts for way at the end. I had to skip some episodes at that point.

It's a shame that the anime took some liberties in changing chapters around for the beginning, because they sure as hell should have done that for the middle and end.

It was okay, it just doesn't have the incredible hook Aria does. She'll probably never top it, a lot of this show felt more mundane and ordinary, not just because it had a fairly ordinary setting. And she retreads so many things, it's like she didn't even put effort into it.

I've been away from /a/ for a while, I didn't know Teko was apparently hated? I think shrinking violets make for some of the best MCs.

The one thing the show really had going for it was it captured Amano's designs far better than Aria ever did.

I think it was mostly because of melodrama instead of comfy sol.
The "waaaah I didn't have friends but now Pikari is my friend I can do thing that I couldn't do before!" routine simply got old by the fifth episode.
