I'm excited for a bigger cast in the TV series but this brings up the same issue with The Enchanted Parade; adding more characters and failing to flesh them out. Yes, we have full length episodes and 13 of them to boot but if the new trio from The Enchanted Parade return along with introducing new characters, that's already a sizable cast. I hope they can manage their time well among them all.

That and the concerns about animation. It's going to be impossible to have movie tier animation but hopefully it doesn't pale too much in comparison.

I'm more worried about story and Yoshinari's directing. He's made it pretty clear he had a lot of difficulty with the second film. He's a great animator but he's not all that great at story. Hopefully, while he steers the overall direction, he'll be allowing other Trigger folks to throw ideas around or even run some episodes, otherwise he risks being overwhelmed. I imagine that's likely what'll happen.

Lots of ideas were being thrown around for the second movie, presumably some of those will surface for the show.

While the second film was straightforward, I do feel that it suffered a bit from the story. It's as though Akko reverted to before the first movie with the petty squabbles between friends and eventually making up at the end. The central plot of the film could have been anything else and have felt more engaging but friendship prevailing is fitting for the series, I guess.

Well the second OVA was already 4/10 boring and bad, whereas the first one was 8/10, so i expect this to be just as bad with a literal disney tier check list for tropes just like the second OVA, including the "fight between friends" arc that is resolved after 20 minutes, and there was never any doubt that it would be resolved anyways, and it ends up being completely inconsequential too.

I watched the second OVA and found myself smiling throughout the entire thing. It was simply fun, short and incredibly sweet. The new characters weren't polished enough and the final battle was rushed, but other than that, it was pure fun, and exactly what I'm expecting from the series.

I think you expect something entirely different from the creators even have in mind, which is why you're disappointed. Hopefully I'm wrong, but this is ususally the case with "hyped" anime. So many people come in with different expectations (sometimes people desperately want it to be something its not), it never pleases everyone.

Had Kiznaiver not had to deal with Aniplex and Okada's bullshit I think it would have fared far better. At least that season had Luluco too, but I really don't look at Kiznaiver as Trigger's thing at all to be honest as stylistic animation aside the whole project from what ended up going into it to the promotion campaign just reeked of typical design by committee stuff and what they seemed to think dumb teen anime fans you'd find lurking places like Crunchyroll want out of a modern cutting edge show rather than what Trigger's creative staff is known for or even capable of. Boom Boom Satellites last song was also entirely wasted on it and they should have just quit while they were ahead.

In his MLP art he experimented with a sort of linelessness with lots of gradients.
