Shimazaki was pretty cool for getting a powerup via trying hard like some kind of main character, but my favorite is Matsuo. I like his ectobiologist / pokemon trainer shtick and being able to increase evil spirits' powerlevels is a neat ability, especially since he probably learnt to do it by studying spirits rather than starting out with it. His stickers are pretty aesthetic too.

Dubs don't have to be mediocre. American films are dubbed in other languages all the time and you don't often hear about their quality being bad. I've seen plenty of good performance from English dubs of anime, but never has a dub been anything beyond "solid" for me. Especially with their awkward pauses for lip flaps. Can't they just spend an hour in editing for some of the more still frames to alleviate that problem?

You can avoid those awkward pauses, but it requires some finesse with how you write the translation and, to be frank, they're not hiring top-tier writers for this so usually, it's not worth the risk of butchering the script to try to rewrite the dialogue to match the animation. Eh, vic just had to play it a completely different way from miyano because of his voice type/age, he really couldn't get away with trying to copy him, so he just made up his own version that was totally different. But IMO if you look at them both separately they're both pretty solid.

I'm a huge Lodoss gan and watch plenty of dubs, but the Lodoss dub is HORRIBLE, I have no idea what you're smoking. Crystania dub is also unbearable.
