No, he's a self aware version of the comically dumb shounen protagonist. He realizes he's dumb muscle only good for fighting and that he needs others to do just about everything else. This is more apparent in the earlier parts of the manga but it still comes up from time to time. He's not deep by any means but being a self-aware version of a certain archetype means he's less shallow than those who play the archetype completely straight.

I haven't even finished storm 3 fullburst, and I heard storm 4 was bad. 3 is worse than 2 with all the simplifying they did so I can't imagine actually managing to sit through it all if 4 is worse still.
