There's romance for guys, and lolis. You can't this sort of thing anywhere else.

Several reasons.

>Watching stuff from another culture is interesting.
>Animation allows for certain kinds of creative freedom; it's no more expensive to draw an alien world than a highschool.
>It's free 'cause torrents.

The girls are often more of a negative than a positive for me, because they're written so unrealistically. When they're less "female characters" than they are "characters designed by male nerds to be attractive to male nerds," they can wind up shallow and sad. There are some important exceptions to this, though. Some anime is very well written.
