How do you deside whether to watch the anime or read the manga?

whatever catches my interest.
Sure, the source material is better most of the time, but let's say I'm scrolling through the catalog and see a thread thinking, "hey, that anime looks nice" - then I watch that anime. I can always read the manga later on.

For me if already read the manga, but the anime is picked by a studio that don't like (For example DEEN) i don't watch the anime, maybe some episodes for VA and some scenes.
If i start to watch the anime i don't read the manga until the anime ends because that kill me the emotion to continue the anime, but if the anime peak my interest, i read the manga and watch the anime
For new manga/anime i pick a random discussion in the catalog, enter the thread and give a chance to the series (for me the most recent case is Grandblue )
