Why did so few people like Concrete Revolutio?
>>147246327
>so few people like Concrete Revolutio
retard
It's a bones original which means the story is a retarded mess.
the script is borderline incomprehensible
I can just get the sakuga from threads or whatever
mob psycho 100 is the same shit to a lesser degree
>>147246649
The script was pretty simple
>>147246405
Didn't even get any repackagers to repackage Horriblesubs or BDrips. Quite a sad state of affairs.
>>147246649
It's nothing like Mob though.
>>147246866
I know, what I meant is that the actual material is boring and it's not worth watching for sakuga because I can get that elsewhere
People being too dumb to understand non-linear storytelling, even when dates are included.
Bones is bad meme.
people going
>oh noes it has a robot and I hate mecha so it's bad
and not giving it a chance.
It doesn't pander enough/Jiro isn't a self insertthough I'd insert myself into Jiro.
Pick your reason.
Because best girl didn't win the Justice.
>>147246405
It flopped though. Unless i'm not aware of some magical merch sales
>>147246327
Because it's shit.
>>147246327
>Why no one do the BDs?
Fixed that for you.
I just like the SPARKLING webm, the rest is shit
>>147247576
Yeah pretty much. You think they'd do it for the sakuga alone
It wasn't very good desu.
>>147247619
B-b-ut wacky Japanese super heroes!
>>147246327
I've watched the first 8 episodes, and the storytelling was pantsu on head tier retarded. Same reason I couldn't finish Baccano! after giving it two shots.
>>147247771
Why does /a/ like Baccano! so much then?
>>147246890
oh, you're just a retard then
>>147246327
non-linear
political
subversion of superheroes
long 2-cour season
>>147247401
She pretty much DID though.
>>147246327
Judging by this thread, many people were too retarded to follow the non-linear story.
>>147246890
Mob is actually incredibly boring. The only reason it's popular is cuz of the whole "ONEEEEEE" meme.
The best part about the show is the spirit medium dude's antics and even that isn't all that great
It was alright but the ending sucked.
non linear story telling
setting is alternate 70s
people didn't understand justice
nuke-kun was too good for this world
best girl didn't win
such things are too much for the Nips
>>147248044
You mean the ONEEEEEEE paanchi man?
>>147246327
dropped it near the end of the first season. purple haired monkey face girl was the only decent character and the story made zero sense.
>>147247937
Also I'll add
it wasn't emotional engaging from the first episode
so it's meta narrative and it's other elements were not a strong selling point"sakuga included" to the general anime popular of teenagers or casual viewers.
Clarity can work well with the complexity but with concrevo they fucked up in that department. And I do not care for it.
dumping best girl
JUST GIVE ME A JIROZILLA MOVIE

>>147248247
>>147248285
Did you bow to your Queen today?
>>147248285
Shit, thought I had more. Have best boy instead
>>147248285
Her eyes look like candygirl's
>>147246890
But the manga is better than the anime. What are you smoking ?
>>147248628
As far as I know that swirl thing has been done quite often. (Oldest I can think back on is TTGG but I'm sure there's older)
Also her eyes are more like an onion, many smaller circles within another. (probably taken from Medaka Box)
Kikko a cutie.
>>147248115
Apparently for /a/ as well.
>>147248458
Here. Have Kyuteko.
>>147246327
Non linear narrative
No spoonfeeding
No pandering
Giganda-7.
>>147247659
They kinda are.
>>147246327
Its a show filled with references only a few people, mostly very old, can enjoy and get. The uneven quality of the direction didn't help
Plus anime original, plus not enough pandering to modern audience, plus a lot of stuff
All in all, the staff knew perfectly that it was going to flop, but its a great series exactly for that.
>>147247560
>>147250547
It was all in all by definition a trope show about all the things that were cool in old anime.
>>147250547
I can't wait to be 60 years old so nostalgia anime will come out parodying shit I've watched this decade and I can be that hardcore nerd who remembers all the maymays.
>>147250794
My only critique is about the direction. They could had used 24 episodes better to lead to the ending in a less rushed way
There was really a great number of useless moments and time wasting with dumb camera movements, specially during S1
One of the best this year desu
>>147250547
>Its a show filled with references only a few people, mostly very old, can enjoy and get.
How old? 32 year old here
>>147251137
It's one of the rare cases where there was too much world building.
>>147246327
It's high level /m/anime, most people here are plebs who only watch seasonal LNshit adaptations.
>>147250923
I'm not trying to pull out the elitist card there, its just normal that you can't like stuff you don't know.
>>147251159
I'm 35. exactly as expected, and probably this was the goal of the staff
Maybe someone younger found it interesting, but its pretty obvious people like us was their target
>>147247518
I wasn't aware of the relation between how much people like an anime and its sales on japan. It was well liked here but it wasn't filled with shitposting so maybe that's why OP thinks it was disliked/unpopular.
What is the superhuman to you, /a/?
A piece of shit that you should stop caring for when you wanna be an adult, just like Satomi said?
A gallant hero of justice who comes to save you in your darkest times of need, as Japan saw the great Rainbow Knight?
Somebody who embodies the hopes and dreams of all future generations, like Kikko the Witch?
An idol from a bygone age that is to be revered, like the Iron Fencer Koma-Kage?
The next step of human evolution, as the Fumers saw it?
Terrifying modern gods used as a symbol to impose your cultural values upon others, as Jonathan of the J.O.E. squad saw himself?
Products to make mere money and to be discarded whenever something more new and hip arrives, like Aki the lesbian giant?
I fucking loved it. Anime of the year.
>>147247080
Pretty much all these.
Also, >Not entirely focused on comedy or pretty grills
Yup. Theres no market for these kind of originals right now.
>>147251281
>/m/ anime
I wish that was a compliment, there are way too many idiots there today
>>147251490
I'm not clever man.
I just want to lick Demon Queen Kikko's shoes. Is that too much to ask??
>>147251708
So for you, superhumans represent all-encompassing order to which you wish to submit yourself.
>>147251490
Never surrender to reality, I guess.
>>147251678
>I wish that was a compliment
For anyone with taste, it is. CR was fucking great, and no amount of retards and newfags not being able to follow or appreciate it will change that.
>>147252201
I don't browse /m/ since years, but if you tell me CR was appreciated then I can only be extremely happy that scrubs and autists didn't take completely the board.
Maybe there's still hope, after all
>>147246327
It was pretty good though, and had great threads too.
>>147251137
Problem is how some of the episodes were rather useless, specially the ones from the guest writers, surprisingly enough, Urobochi's episode was pretty good.
>>147251490
>What is the superhuman to you, /a/?
A kid.
>>147252336
On /a/ it was pretty much ignored by the majority, on /m/ it was basically fucking hated by 50% and fucking loved by the other 50%.
/a/ threads were better.
>>147248044
>The only reason it's popular is cuz of the whole "ONEEEEEE" meme.
But it's not even popular because those who expected another OPM dropped it long time ago.
>>147246327
Basically because non-linear storytelling
I enjoyed it a whole lot and wouldn't mind rewatching it with /a/It won't bring Justiceman back though ;_;
>>147247806
Who say we do?
Only a select few do for the nonstandard setting and they are the ones who loves to shitpost but have zero interest in putting any work to support what they like as in translating stuff or gods forbid, buying merch.
>>147252803
We must learn to let things go.
>>147252370
>the ones from the guest writers
True. maybe they commissioned the episodes while still working on the episode division, so to play it safe they requested something that wasn't integral to the story.
>>147252446
Yeah I know the modus operandi on /m/.
>>147253113
Honestly the guest episodes were decent to good and still contained world building. The only bad one was Nakashima because he's a talentless hack who should never write. Had that episode been used to build up the finale more, the show would literally be perfect.
>>147252803
>bring Justiceman back
Why, did he go somewhere? he's just there man. there, inside your heart
>>147253236
I loved the worldbuilding, but like that other anon said, too much worldbuilding is bad, specially if you have 12 shots a season. some cool stuff took away time that could have been used to wrap things up better
>>147253071
It just hurts so fucking much.
I'm really going to miss this show. Why must all good things come to an end?
>>147253240
Don't do this to me.
>>147253357
It wasn't the wrap up, it was the lead up to the finale and the finale itself. As I said, killing the Nakashima episode and then maybe just adding one more and using those two for fleshing out the finale would have made it perfect.
>>147253376
>Why must all good things come to an end
Because without an end they would stop being good. Sakura flower and all that jazz man, its legit stuff
Earth-chan was best girl also it was shit.
>>147253418
The episode itself was kinda a low-quality, but I think even so, the Nakashima-episode with the three birdmen still had a strong theme about the fears of too high expectations and trying to bring pride and self-confidence again for everyone as represented in that normal unmodified skyjumper and the three dudes. Or at least, the intention of it was clearly there.
Still the weakest episode in the show though, I agree.
>>147253687
>if thing doesn't end it stops being good
>if it ends you won't get any more of thing
Well this is quite a dilemma.
>>147253862
I think a theme existing in the background with absolute shit execution means the writing is shit, just like when he wrote TTGL and KLK.
>>147253862
It had a nice theme, yet it should have been a footnote and not a whole episode.
>>147253847
Stop being such a butt.
>>147246327
Fuck you buddy I loved it. I can't believe it'll almost be a year since we were on the JUSTICE ride.
>>147253847
Kill urself
What would your ideal superhuman be? What does he or she represent? What does he or she fight for?
And what is the evil that he or she fights against?
>>147246890
>typical sakugafag
>>147248115
>best girl didn't win
did anyone won
>>147246649
>borderline incomprehensible
If you're a casual whose only exposure to anime is Naruto-tier trash this might be true.
Show makes perfect sense if you're willing to pay attention.
>>147256086
>willing
try "able"
The only show that tries to mess with a definition of superhero and does it right is One Punch Man.
>>147256328
>>147256328
ConRevo isn't trying to find or show the ideal superhero though.
It's rather asking the viewers what they expect of superheroes, and why they feel about them that way.
>>147256907
>ConRevo isn't trying to find or show the ideal superhero though.
Not that OPM is either. OPM parodies superhero shows relentlessly, gloriously, and kek-worthingly.
>>147257425
>kek-worthingly
You're going all out, aren't you?
>>147246327
Hard to follow for the average anime viewer
>>147258298
I am of the opinion that if binge-watched, it ought to be a lot more easier to understand.
>>147258370
I binge-watched it and I agree.
Though I think part of the issue is that it's a historical pastiche of the post-war 20th century and there's so many political and cultural references unique to those few decades that I feel like so much of what it was doing and what was going on would be completely lost on somebody that didn't live through the 60's/70's or study them in a classroom setting.
Like holy shit, the climax of the 1st cours was the goddamn japanese arm of Paris '68.
If you're able to actually make sense of the history that's being engaged with it gives the show a completely different flavour.
>>147258547
That was a lot of the appeal here at first. I felt like it might have been mostly people who were big fans of 60's and 70's stuff. History is my shit, old school anime is my shit, and both combined was ConRevo. It was super incredibly niche, but everyone in the threads with me seemed to agree that this felt like it was made for them.
>>147246327
Because you have to know lots about Japan as it was 50-60 years ago and because >Mizushima Seiji
>>147258734
>It was super incredibly niche, but everyone in the threads with me seemed to agree that this felt like it was made for them.
The show was esoteric as fuck, but if you understood what it was doing, it was like someone peaked inside your head, found out what makes you tick, and then wrote a show about it.
>>147259343
I have to admit, most of the show ernt over my head until the threads or a few google searches clarified things, but once it started getting into the nitty-gritty "what does it mean to be a hero" stuff I was immediately on board 100%.
I don't think I've ever enjoyed a BONES ending as much as conrevo. It was just everything it needed to be.
>>147259343
100% agree to, like, an uncomfortable degree. Literally just like someone said "This is the show for you my nigga"
>>147259343
Yeah, that's how it was for me, and I'm glad for it, what makes me sad is how the Seigi year is about to end.
This show had great animation, music and characters i liked.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSSoiW0PjZA
Wish it was still around, needed more Earth-Chan, Grosse Augen, Mountain Horse and Koma episodes.
>>147259984
We didn't start the fire would probably be a good thematic song too for the entire show.
>>147256024
Emi won the Ullr-bowl.
>>147259565
It was a good year though.
And I'm sure we will get another show in the near future that will deal with the concepts of justice.
So should I watch this if I don't particularly care about 60's and 70's Japan but I like modern retro throwback shows like Shin Mazinger, Tetsujin 28-go (2004), Cyborg 009 (2001), Tetsuwan Atom (2003), Kikaider the Animation, Enma-kun Meramera?
>>147260781
I'd say yes. Kikaider was one of many influences on this show and even though I knew/cared very little about the period it was supposed to be set in, it was an altogether incredibly enjoyable ride from start to finish. Easily among my top 5 anime within the year(s) it aired, partially because it was such an ambitious anime original series that managed to do (almost) everything right.
>>147260914
ConRevo was practically "Cool Japan: The Anime"
A failure like the Cool Japan concept itself. But still a commendable thing to do.
>>147260781
Psst check out Demon Prince Enma if you haven't yet
Only four episodes, pretty good
>>147246327
because I haven't actually watched it yet
>>147261534
What are you waiting for?
>>147261534
Then you should start it soon.
Guys, I think I'm Justicesexual. Characters and shows that are all about justice and what it means to be justice get me hot and bothered.
Wat do?
>>147246327
You mean watched, because almost everyone likes it.
The only thing people really disliked was the episodic part of season 2, which I for one really enjoyed.
Hell, its still one of my contenders for AOTY.
>>147246327
Because people are retarded, that's why, ConRevo was too good for them.

>>147262080
Valid, anyone know how long before the last boxes come out? I actually never tracked a series blu ray releases after they finished.
>>147262213
Blu ray-box volume 9 (final) comes out on September 27.
>>147262213
I think some of the last volumes listed at the time I checked (back in June or so) listed September as the last month that boxes would be released. But I think that was only up to Volume 9 or so, so I'm not sure if that's the full series or not.
>>147262327
It is.
Volume one has 1 episode.
Volume two to eight each have 3 episodes.
Volume nine ends with 2 episodes.
>>147262398
>Volume one has 1 episode.
Not this shit again.
>>147262213
Am I the only person who thinks this scene is a Saint Seiya reference?
>>147246327
Non linear storytelling meant everyone didn't get what was going on for the first few episodes and they promptly dropped it.
I was on the fringe of dropping it before giving the 3rd episode a go. With the help of the threads pointing out what events it's referencing it became a hundred times more enjoyable.
>>147262398
>last volume has Jirou and Hyouma on the cover
>Satomi on the actual box
Not sure if I feel pleased at Jirou/Hyouma combo, or betrayed by the Satomi on the actual case.
>could have been Jirou and Raito on the cover and Hyouma on the box
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONES.
I like Concrete Revolutio.
However, it is difficult to understand the original story of Showa.
Wasn't really able to lurk the threads but I did watch and like it. Did that image of the timeline ever get completed and if so please post.
>>147266976
I got you my man. I only have resources for Cour-1 though (everything else I have is in the thread somewhere), but I dunno if there's one for Cour-2. Or if I mislabeled a few of them.
>>147267358
Thanks, senpai.
So what is Seiji Mizushima working on now?
>>147246327
Storyline is too broken, more because it spent a lot of time on stuff that was only slightly relevant to the main plot. Thus it got boring.
Where the FUCK is my merchandise goddamnit
>>147269526
In the scrap metal yard, i suppose.
>>147246649
>>147246501
Nope, there are a couple problems with the non-linear storytelling (for construction reasons, rather than continuity), but it's consistent for the most part.
>>147251592
Even going back, there was never that huge a market for shows like this ever. The show is like a postmodern pastiche with heavy themes, which is nothing like shows that aired in the 90s-previous. It might have been given more of an audience in the 2000s but it's hard to say.
>>147246327
Terrible writing, directing and animation. Also pretentious.
