Get ready for dessapointment, Episode 1 is probably the best episode of the season. The shuttle rescue scene captured the total essence of the show, then they lost their way and repeated the same character arcs over again while failing to reduce the size of cast. Season 1 is still the best season, and there is no hope of them making something better if they didn't learn from the mistakes of S2. By the start of S3 they had saved the world twice, it should have been a season about being big damn heroes instead of petty drama (which replays the same characterizations established in S1/2) and playing around with dolls.

The only good points in S3 are the shuttle rescue, Tsubasa's return to her family home, a certain doctor's return, and the finale.

Unlike Hibiki, her daddy issues were present from S1. Reconciling with her father was the final development in her "I am sword" arc, even if she had more or less gotten over it in S1 (and again in S2, because every character just repeats the same arc every season). It was the closest that S3 came to good characterization.

The shuttle rescue was the absolute high point of the season. The girls sang about the philosophies they had developed and acted like world saving heroes. As soon as the plot began to take effect, they went right back to struggling with the same old doubts while jobbing to Arcanoise and the dolls. The entire season should have just been SONG emergency deployments such as the trip they took to go fight the minotaur. That would have been a lot more entertaining than daddy issues and clusterfuck skirmishes with the shitty dolls.

And for fuck's sake they need to ditch the S2 girls. The original trio have a perfect dynamic already and ever since they were introduced, the three new girls have just eaten up screen time. Or focus on those three and not the originals, either way, the cast is too large.

Nothing, I considered subbing the songs because translations are available, but nothing came of that. I've only done timing for 50% of the concert and don't have time to work on it except on weekends. And I can't do typesetting for shit. Also, there aren't any translations of either Hidamari Memoria or BAYONET CHARGE (after the first 90 seconds) anywhere to be found. So, ETA never. Or late December, but by that point I'm expecting someone else has already done it.
