Why can't fusions just have a bunch of generics?

Syncs and Xyz are %90 generics, and pendulum is BUILT for supporting those two. Most fusions are Archetype-based and REQUIRE synergy with 2-3ish decks. Why can't there just be a bunch of mediocre generics (i.e 2 beast type monsters, 1 Dark+1 Light, 1 Machine+1 Dragon) pretty much how Duelist of the Roses handled their fusions

YGO pretty much ended catering to a mature, older audience with 5Ds and rebooted itself towards kids with Zexal. You can kind of see it with how Yuma is a middle schooler, a far departure from the late teenage to early adult protagonists we've had. The duels were far simpler and the plot and themes were easier to digest and noticeably lighter than previous series. Then you move on to Arc-V which is more or less the same in terms of characters, story, and themes, maybe a bit more sophisticated than Zexal was.

Though from what I've seen lately DSOD was catered more to people who grew up with YGO as kids which is why most of the people who saw it were adults or teens. Kids obviously didn't appreciate it because it went above their heads and didn't have enough dueling time and whatnot. But it's doing pretty well thanks to all of the old fans and their support so maybe Konami might try targeting the older fans again.

That's wrong. Synchro's only real flaws were its pacing and its irrelevance to the plot. It didn't completely destroy its characterizations like the WDC did, and it wasn't completely boring unlike GX's first two seasons. The show got really bad from Xyz on, but the spoilers are promising and there's a chance for it to pick up again.

Problem with fossil fusion and super poly is that both of them fall into that arch-type specific fusion.
If you build a deck today you can straight out say "I want only XYZ/Syncrhos in my extra deck" and that works out

The problem is that you can't make fusions generic without a generic fusion spell or something to take its place. If Neo New Poly were to have an OPT clause and other light restrictions, generic decks could use it while devoted fusion decks could still just run Poly since it has none. If you're going to make a fusion spell for specific uses, then you're going to end up with a whole cycle of cards being equivalent to Contract with the Abyss, and we see how long that cycle is taking.

I mean, if you compare one of those more well-known anime that would appeal to teens and 5D's, the difference in just the way the dialogue is written creates a really noticeable distinction. 5D's still uses that more simplified kind of dialogue you see throughout kids' shows that make it overtly obvious who it's catering to.

Guys,I think I just found Shinigami GX.
The action takes place in a Grim Reapers school,the characters' 'duels' contain in who can rip more souls and the theme song will 'Get your Death on'.

You know, I've enjoyed Arc-V. It definitely didn't live up to it's potential and it's had some pretty meh parts, but I still think it's been a fairly fun ride for what it is.
