Exactly. I don't get why dumbasses who grew up on shit like Superman and Spiderman don't see this. Clark Kent was more than happy work as journalist and later on marry Lois Lane despite being a superpowered alien. He saved the world because he wanted to protect this kind of mundane and simple, but ultimately fulfilling existence.
It's the same with Ichigo. It's always been the same with Ichigo. Isshin convinces Ichigo to fight Aizen, not by telling him about SS or being a shinigami, but by reminding him that he will lose Karakura Town if he doesn't. At his core, Ichigo was just a guy who wanted to live in his hometown surrounded by his family and friends.

Going back to those chapters knowing the end, you realize that Kubo DID drop lots of hints. I don't ship them, I just read. And "moments" are not necessarily hints at endgame, which is why I was specific about calling them "moments that can be taken as hints" before.

Some moments are red herrings. Some are just played for jokes and some are low key.

Tatsuki's omake, for example, can be called an IchiTatsu moment. Ikkaku glancing at Nemu once in SS arc spawned Ikkaku/Nemu shipping for a short while and Chad/Karin was a thing after one fight, so people have shipped for less than what IR got.

IHs who act like everything was pointing towards IH and IR got nothing is as bad as the other way round by Ichirukists.

What's interesting now is who's stronger, Hitsugaya or Rukia. Neither are physically strong swordpersons and both have ice-based swords with limitation on bankai. Hitsugaya became captain first, but Rukia got royal realm training.

Rukia's bankai leaves her vulnerable after activation. And while she did get RG training, one has to remember Hitsugaya unlocked his Bankai's full potential at ludicrous speed.
I'm rooting for Hitsugaya in such a fight.
