I can see where they were trying to go with Emilio's angst during the first half. He not only changed a lot in the second half, but he was even able to help Shun wit his own family problems. Even so they should have done a slightly better job than him screaming "You just don't understand!" whenever the topic was in the air.

The thing is you have to watch it long enough to realize that the beginning that makes it look as a generic battle fantasy is actually massively unrepresentative of the series is. Though many people won't like it anyway, because they don't really like anime much anyway. This is such a perfect example of an amateurishly done, yet fun, plot from the 80s, 90s and even early 00s.

That's it's problem though. It's a really rote fantasy story that does nothing to stand out and retreads the same sort of themes, characters, and plots that have been beaten into the earth since 80s anime. If you've seen a lot of anime, there's really nothing to be had here, especially since the animation is atrocious. I made it, like, 17 episodes before finally just losing interest. I mean, I lost interest at episode 2, but I kept going out of inertia, but even at some point for me watching became too much of a chore.

Yeah you can call it fun, it has some fun moments, but it does a really poor job of fleshing out characters and "amateurish" doesn't even begin to describe the narrative and expository styles. There are much better adventure stories out there, though I suppose you can do much worse than Endride.

Even if we try to blame it on the fact that it's a multimedia thing and its an advertisement for a game then we already had Shingeki no Bahamut which wasn't perfect but was much better than this. And for game adaptations, we have Tales of Zestiria and Ange Vierge which are much better shows airing this season as well.

I dropped this shit back after the dragons flew them over some mountains. How long after that does shit start to finally happen?

It's spoilered (humorously) because I feel like the sort of people who'd post in an Endride thread would be the least likely to believe that AV is actually a decent show. Hell, I didn't believe it would actually have redeeming qualities until I bit the bullet out of boredom and the vain hope that fanservice would make it watchable (the fact that the "fanservice" is so rampant that it becomes pedestrian, un-sexy is actually one of many credits, but not what I expected).

I started watching this to make fun of it, but now I actively anticipate each new episode, and I can't even explain why because it's honestly nothing notable or spectacular. It's not even a deconstruction or a satire of its genre the way Cerberus was. I'm so confused as to how this has managed to weasel its way through my Patrician Anime AT Field and settle in like it's always meant to be there.
