The show felt like it had so much wasted potential. I know, you could say that about many anime, but still.
And the choices didn't feel like they had any lasting consequences. As in, MC had to do something awkward and then it was awkward for a moment, but after that everyone seemed to have forgotten about it. But I admit it has been some time, so I might be wrong about that.

Galaxy Angel, Milky Holmes, and to a lesser extent Ika Musume are the only anime to consistently make me laugh

I've watched others that most people find hilarious like Cromartie High and Nichijou, and laughed maybe one or two times.

I really enjoyed many of the shows already mentioned, but Binbougami Ga! and B Gata H Kei are two shows that's been a bit forgotten. Nyan Koi was really funny too. Hataraku Maou-sama was good.

Well every time there are threads like this, Sakamoto doesn't get mentioned nearly much as Nichbros, Kobosuba, Cromartie, etc.
I guess because people didn't really like the anime adaptation, especially the mangafags, but I thought it was amazing.

Which is curious, because I've seen the manga being praised before on here. Either all the Sakamotofags on /a/ just left, or everyone just decided the adaptation was shit. It didn't seem terrible to me though.

Milky Holmes is a literal masterpiece. Galaxy Angel, Jintai, Teekyuu and Ai Mai Mi also hit all of my funny spots.
Noucome is one tier below along with stuff like Sabagebu, Konosuba and Korean Zombie, still pretty funny but doesn't make me laugh as hard or as constantly as the above.

I think the Azumanga Daioh manga and Yotsuba!& are worth mentioning. Kiyohiko Azuma is incredible with comedic timing on the page.

I dont find japanese humor to be funny. in fact I think it's too blunt, exaggerated, and cringe most of the time, BUT the funniest anime i've ever seen is

Pure comedy anime usually feels empty. You may laugh, but it still feels like wasted time, and you end up with a feeling of dissatiscaftion when you finish.

Noucome is nothing special. Maybe it was an okay watch, but not really something to laugh at.

My most recently watched pure comedy anime, that I actually laughed at, was Joshiraku.

By the way, Nichijou is extremely boring. I don't get how people can laugh at that. It's just stupid and annoying.

Best pure comedy, if I define comedy as something that will leave you unhappy, may be Fumoffu. But I don't know.
I like comedy, but I prefer when it is in series that actually have more appeal than just that. For example cgdct, which have great characters and usually a plot too. Not just nonsense comedy with no plot in the background.

The seasons make sense, you follow the characters through linear events that are referenced in later episodes, often there is character development. You see the characters worry about exams, study, then finish them. The plot may not be very complex, but it is there. Pure comedy tends to be completely static, nothing changes from beginning to end, no character development, no changes in relationships between characters, often episodes are standalone, skips around between seasons. It feels so empty compared to the typical cgdct, which is often funnier as well. Azumanga Daioh is a great example of a great cgdct with great comedy. They are so much better, you don't just get the laughs, you also the the plot and characters which make them much more meaningful.
