I honestly didn't think Evangelion was all that good. the characters were boring and the plot was okay at best

The only characters that I found interesting was Misato and Asuka to a lesser extent
Shinji was just that "kid who has to fight but doesn't want to" and his friends never had much depth and his father just sat behind the lines for most of the series, and I didn't really like how Asuka was complaining practically the entire show. Really the only character I liked was Misato
