Kitora's harsh but she cares. Osamu is the type who dosen't benefit from people being kind to him about things. Izumi and Arashiyama's training failed. Kitora's spider suggestion turned Tamakoma around into a team that can actually compete in the upper tier of B Rank. Osamu even specifically thanks her when he is about to fight Katori Squad solo, so he understands that she helped him A LOT.

I think that all in all advanced shooter training benefited him. He finally had a chance to train real shooter behaviour. You could see it against cosplayer, he started to see a broader perspective during the fight. And I also think that it influenced his behaviour (he knows what opponent will search for!) during Katori team spider war. Sure, spider made him 5x better but you can see these little improvement. You can't git gud in 4 days, but with this training continued for a longer period of time he can seriously learn how to defend himself.
That said he's still a scrub
