He's a clone, but because he was a clone he had short telomeres (DNA shit) which meant he had a shorter life span. But the short telomeres also caused him to be in constant pain and agony every day.

Despite his existance being a pinnacle of human accomplishment, he became psychotic when he realized that humanity cared more of warfare and killing each other instead of bettering itself despite all the suffering and death caused in war.

This made him view humanity as an undeserving species to exist as they did not care for anything except warfare no matter how many times they fight and cause pain and misery to themselves, this with the addition that he is in constant pain and was created for the sake of a corrupted mans desire (the sort of corrupted that humanity is made of) made him desire humanity's extinction since they dont care about the suffering of each other or those they bring into the world

I like to imagine that being a defect was why he was so fucking mental and misanthropic. But it doesn't seem to be the case which is lame. I think SEED would have been better if there were legitimate reasons as to why people opposed coordinators and Rau could have been an example of that. Still one of the better characters in SEED though.
