So anime used to be serious, mature stories, and then degenerated into fanservice?
It's actually a really good representation, even though they are both old.
The problem is there are no children, and the few anime that have been for children have dominated for over a decade, leaving no room for more mature stuff to be made for children. The non-children anime is competing with regular porn, and that sets some requirements for sexualization of the characters, leaving less room for mature plots.

The first picture represents the old anime, as you can see from the fact that the girl is wearing a uniform and the background, which looks serious. It's a representation of the old, more serious and mature anime. For example Uchuu Senkan Yamato, and many others. From back when anime was dominated by the mature stuff.

The second picture represents modern anime. The girl is almost naked, only wearing a sexualized bunny suit, representing modern anime's focus on shallow fanservice. The blue sky can also be taken as a representation of modern anime's lack of willingness to deal with darker, mature themes.
