Mista, who's not able to control his fate of dying, bites it. Diavolo doesn't need to sidestep the bullets or anything, it's just the moments where the bullets strike him don't exist anymore. Mistas ducked because the results of the time cancel end in his death.

That's how's he able to kill Narancia and drag Trish out of the elevator. It's much more than 'everyone forgets but diavolo'

Part 1 and 2 had no funds and were practically slideshows with some terrible quality but good direction and Part 3 had terrible pacing (and also the first half of the manga only had a couple of good fights in it). Part 4 so far has had good direction, art, seems to have less quality and great OST and voice acting (mainly Wataru Takagi). Also Part 4 is the second best part so obviously it's going to be good.

So the point is instead of being a son's redemption arc putting Gio in the same circumstances as Dio and having him become a better person is to make Gio a boring secondary that exists to further everyone else's lives and only succeed in the end because he's the 'protagonist'
