I re-watched few episodes too and I noticed how difference is huge. It's not only pacing, it feels like first 13 episodes are more polished and detailed. On top of plot and action they have a lot more character interactions, scenery porn and better world building. Like for example how much did they show us interiors of their Island class ship? They are living on it for 8 episodes yet it had less scenery than a cat planet after a single episode 7.

Hopefully we will get another Frontier treatment with 2 movies. One retelling first 13 episodes of Delta with improved animation and battles and 2nd movie with complete different and improved story.

But I fully agree. I am not one of those that calls the new episodes the worst shit ever - they do have their good moments. But in the end, the first 13 episodes were indeed superior. Really strange, you had more character development on top of having battles every second episode.
